Armchair Generals,

Am I the only one who has noticed the absense of German 88mm Flak in "Contested Skies"? Will it appear in the "D-Day" expansion??

Twice I have presented the game to some friends and the exchange went something like this:

"Hey, look at this cool WWII miniature game!"

"Oh, nice looking tanks... Where is the Flak 88?"

"It's not out yet :("

"Uh?!? This is stupid! I'm not interested!"

We soooooooooooooooooooooooo need the '88...

Yeah, because everyone knows that every infantry platoon in the Wermacht was issued a couple of 88s. :)

For every 88mm AT gun produced, there were 1.7 37mm Pak (35-40) guns, 2.7 50mm Pak 38 guns and 9.2 75mm Pak (39-42) guns. Given what the stats should look like and the cost, people aren't going to be fielding a whole lot of them either.

Doesn't matter, it's a signature piece that people want. When you name a combatant in WW2 a picture jumps to mind. America=Shermans, USSR= T-34, Britain=Matilda, France=PoW's...etc. 88's and Tiger tanks are the runway models of the Wermacht and we want them regardless of stats or historical commonality.

Yet, it is a common figurine.

I rest my case.

Well, I've got 5 Pak 38's and 8 Pak 40's, so I'm due for my 88, thankyou very much! :)

I have trouble understanding why someone’s interest in the game should be based solely on whether or not a single unit is present in it. I want the 88's to, but I'm still quite capable of enjoying the game without them.

Try taking on a Char B1 Bis with a Panzer II C and then get back to me.

The Char B1 bis can be easly killed with 2 Pak 38. I have tried it and done it.

Never said this wasn't the case, but to ditch the entire game because they aren't out yet seems a little extreme. :)

And if the Char B1 Bis doesn't obligingly trundle into the Pak 38's range, then what?
