I haven't been able to find that many people to play AAM against in my area, and have been confined to solitaire play (which is OK). Who does everyone here play against, and do you guys play against people you don't know, or people you just meet to play, or do you play with friends you knew before?

Im the only one of us that goes on the forums :(. Thats a lot of people you got Stojakovic!!! Me and another player are really active and play once or twice a week. Then theres this dad and his kid. Someone else at my gamestore said "Oh AAM I should have brough my minis!" He hasnt showed up yet. There is also one other person who bought 5 or 6 cases of Set I, showed up once and didnt play and hasnt showed up since. He also bought some $200+ British Eigth Army for FoW and hasnt showed up for that either!?!

So 4 people who have played and are pretty active. 2 missing in action!

Neither of the two stores in my area support AAM, one store has weekly FOW players, I thought about getting into FOW, but decided against it, one the cost, second the painting, no thank you, so I play with myself (LOL) and I play against my son. I play strictly USA vs Germany. When playing alone I try to be fair to both sides, which I didn't think would be easy, but so far its working out. I don't use points its all out war. I've built a 3X6 gaming table, with 4" hexs on the table, buildings and terrain. AAM being my first venture into wargamming , when not playing against my son, playing alone is better then not playing. I like AMM, can't wait for the AAM Naval...

I play, and organize tournament in my local store. We began in September from 8 active player to a total of 18 at this moment. So are more serious about the game than other, but all in all, it is a real challenge.

I also play with friends at home, when my latest girl, who just turned 3 months last Saturday, give me a chance :p

Ive tried to start a weekly games night at my local Games store...
usually only one of my buddies shows up...
Also I corrupted my neighbor into playing AAM and now he gets into trouble with his wife just like I do...
thats pretty much it
I did play games with myself when I first bought the game

I have had to recruit my friends to play, but once I describe the game to them they really get interested and want to play. I am aiming for somewhat of an informal league.

Nope do not play against people - only with.

No fans I know, met one yesterday - He is writing his graduation work. Said maybe later.

I play with RvM Junior and Little Miss , but only Playmobil and Lego. (and I must play cat and horse/donkey -Shrek II- on occasion ;))

I am kinda lucky. My wife's cousin comes over on Saturdays and we play most of the day. I have 3 LGSs not too far away that I can play at. And then I also tried to play with my son, but he can't seem to get the hang of it. All he does is drool on his units and trys to eat them. Of course he is only seven months old, but that's not excuse for poor tactics. :D

I have a couple friends that I game with - we play A&AM and the A&A Mega-game I've talked about on here (and let me tell you, does THAT rock...). There's almost no interest in A&AM in the Louisville area that I've been able to find. The stores here and in nearby Lexington say that it doesn't sell, and there is certainly no one playing it at any of the gaming sessions these stores have. The under-20 crowd plays fantasy stuff; the 30+ crowd is into Flames of War and other historical stuff of different eras. I've demo'd A&AM at several large (30 people +) game club meetings. Everyone who's tried it has generally liked it (and there's been no shortage of people to try it out), but what they all say can be summed up thusly:

1) The rules are too "kiddie" (or comments to that effect). I didn't hear this comment until after the release of Set II. A retailer who goes to these big club meetings every month sold quite a few of them at the September meeting after I had demo'd the game all day. He hasn't sold any since, and never ordered any Set II or Set III.
2) They don't like the collectible aspect.
3) They wish the scale was the same as Flames of War.

#3 is more a "wishful thinking" kind of thing, and I know that #2 can be overcome. The big thing with the wargamer crowd is #1. In the game stores here, the owners tell me that anything based on WWII is perceived by the under-20 crowd as being "boring." I'm not sure how you overcome that. I think all of this pretty well sums up the whole lack of interest in the game around here, and I think is a case study of why the game isn't more popular overall. On the other hand, it could be argued that my viewpoint is prejudiced by what I see around here and the lack of interest here is an anomaly.

I probably won't be able to play the game much longer. One of the guys I game with is deploying to Iraq in June; the other guy just moved about 30 miles away, and we've gone from playing once a week to once a month. And, as I said, I just can't seem to generate any interest in the game with anyone else. I wouldn't be surprised if a year from now this ends up being another of those games on my shelf that never gets played anymore.

Battle Group New Jersey consists of people living in the NYC & Northern NJ area. We have played AAM and A&A and have discussed also branching out to include SFB, Empires in Arms, and World IN Flames.

We have always had at least 4 people show up when we get together. We never play at a store, but I know the NYC guys also go to The Neutral Ground in NYC on Thursday nights.

I play A&A minis with Kaufschtick. We have another mutual friend that we've known for about 21 years that we game with as well. My wife likes the game and I've played it with one of my sons but they're more into Heroscape and Star Wars minis. They also play D&D - Dispute and Debate. All they do is argue with eachother about who can and can't do what, etc. Noone argues during SW minis though. It must be The Force.

We have a group of a folks that plays every Thursday night at Game Kastle in Santa Clara. Some weeks we play on Tuesday night in mountain view at Matchplay/Nuetral Ground.

Game Kastle: http://www.gamekastle.com/

Send me a PM if you would like to be added to our weekly mailing list.

We are also having a tournament this Saturday at said Game Kastle. The cost is $3-$5 for prizes and everybody gets something.

This month's tournament is Saturday, March 18th at 1pm at Game Kastle. Same format as before, with one addition. Since all-armor armies are dominating, I recommend that we change to no more than 70% (105 points) of infantry or armor.

We also play that vehicles must setup on the back two hexes of the map. Come out and join us, it should be fun.

Well there are about 4 or 5 of us that regularly meet at a local gamestore (KNIGHTWARE INC.) to play A&A Minis. We are mostly doing tournaments and figure trading although we have also done playtesting for a scenario.

We have also gone to local conventions to play in tournaments: GenCon SoCal, ORCCON, and Con Quest L.A. You may also see us at GAMEX in May 2006.
