Hello there!
Can anyone please explain to me how this card works?? It doesn't make sense to me.
Card text: "Another battle takes place this turn in the space of your choice. Play after the battle occurs.".
Thanks!

In Nexus Ops, a battle is one round of combat, much like A&A: D-Day. If you play critcal objective, you get an extra round of combat (aka an extra battle) in a hex of your choice. Sometimes it is hard to get a VP in a single round.

Ok, but how do i make a new battle?? Do i move enemy units there???
A battle can only occur with units from both sides, right?

Hope this helps.

During the move phase, you move a pair of Striders into a mine occupied by two enemy Fungoids.
In the battle round that follows, you manage to kill one of the Fungoids, but the other survives. Normally, you would stop there, combat would cease, you wouldn't a card for winning the battle, and you couldn't use the mine, since the space in contested.
You really want the mine and the VP, so you play Critical Objective. All that happens then is that your two rock striders have one more round of battle against the remaining Fungoid, hopefully killing it.

Question:

Critical objective played on a space with 'multiple defenders'

In the rules it is stated "In cases when more than one opponent has units in a space, you (as the attacker) choose one of those opponents to be defender. Only you and the defending player then participate in the battle...."

What happens if a critical objective card is played on such a space after 1 round of combat and there still exists multiple defenders?

a) Can the attacker freely choose who will be the defender for the 2 round of combat?
OR
b) Does the attacker have to attack the same defender as in the 1st round of combat?

I would assume that the answer to this question is a)

I would lean toward "a" as well. All the card says is "another battle occurs." Since choosing the defendent appears to be part of the battle phase, it seems that the attacker may choose a new defendent.
