I just did this today. Handpainted the emblems as I still need to get some decals. Despite my shaky hand, they're fun to do so I don't mind.
I like the halftrack better in gray. Might try a camoflage one at some point if I find the right pattern. Maybe a winter one.
I love those! I like them in grey too. What paint did you use?
You painted the insignia? That blows my mind. I can barely get the decals on right.
Excellent job.

Hey, thanks! (glowing)
I use craft acrylic paints from Michael's art store. They dry super (sometimes too) quick.

Looks very nice! Halftracks in any color are cool, but the grey just has something "classic" about it. They also look very good in plain sand (with proper ink and highlights, not the way they come from the boosters), so paint one upo in plain sand, and you wont be disapointed.
Try some plain ordinary KHAKI lathered all over the halftrack (you wont need to prime it first, just dont use real thin paint over the factory mustard-sand). Then when the khaki is 100% dry, put a brown ink wash (diluted a bit thinner with some water) over the khaki. The ink will turn the khaki into a nice dark sand color. Put a little bit of the khaki back over the inked model (with light pressure and only a little bit of paint on the brush) and the "brownish" will go away. You will have a beauty sand job. Then its just a matter of how much time you want to put into painting the treads and tools and other small details.
I have 1 sand halftrack I did like this, and you might want to see how they look in a good sand color. It doesnt have a gun yet (so I can mount choice of 37mm, or either of the 75mm guns), but shows the basic color you can get with Khaki, ink, + more khaki.http://boards.avalonhill.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1653&stc=1
