"Hasbro's Rocketville may be a good game (We don't know yet.), but the components are ugly."

Your right! and this game works great for people who want a very gritty and complex simulation of politics played in under 20 hours. The rules are very complicated however so ill have to ask my attorney to rewrite the ruleset. I won't dare let any children play it, so ill bring it to my gamers group to play it and im sure they will just love this game.. it might even be the best game ever made.. I think Avalon Hill should stick to easier games, because it takes me too long to figure out a 3 page rulebook. I want to play the game in under 10 minutes and i dont want to have to use my brain to play a game i want to go back in time and live in a crib and eat Gerbers and drool over myself while i play Rocketville!
gaagaa..googoo i play Rocketville.. i make poopoo LMFAO!!!!!!
Top 5 things found after a Rocketville playing session:
5) Dirty diaper under the game table
4) Half consumed jar of Gerbers carrot puree
3) Pacifier
2) Cookee crumbs
1) A bunch of Rocketville game pieces with a chewed marks and drool all over them.

If you hate the very idea of Rocketville so much without even having seen the game, Imperious Leader, why do you post so much (and by "post so much" I mean post the same thing, over and over again) on the Rocketville boards?

Have you played the demo? I have...two words: Gaa Gaa.
I respect the fact its your favorite game....but respect the fact that its my least favorite.
We can't allways put a happy face on a bad situation..can we?
even Trim Chris ever the optomistic type stated the "pieces are ugly"
besides i was adding some humor on that post... you didnt think it was funny?

Well....I actually just got the game...I can't say (without lying) that the "pieces are ugly"! Sure, the board could have been better with better art work and graphics but I think the components are actually kind of cool.
Let me explain:
I first saw a 'peak' at this game at GAMA (Las Vegas trade show). The people showing me the game had all the "buttons" (card board chits) scattered in the box and cards all over the place.
I usually take better care of my games...I lamenate the cards and usually put the "loose" components in a small storage container (plano tackle boxes)
Aside from me seing all the components scattered like that, I was a bit turned off by that! As soon as I got my copy Friday, It actually doesn't look too bad. The "button" counters are actually a descent thickness! (unlike the ones they used in A&A: remake and in the A&A: D- Day game) There is a cool (metallic) rocket ship....and cards with cool pics on them!
We still have yet to play (hopefully next weekend)... but over all, I am looking forward to it!
Sure, I am still disappointed in AH...they have a lot to make up for us "war gamers" for selling us short a bit but, over all...I am also suprisingly curious to see what more games they have to offer. I am still a firm supporter to AH...I just wish they would make (or remake) some cool more war games too...they can't forget about that!
Oh...one more thing:
About Boulder games...as I buy many of my games from them, they really shouldn't describe some of thier games like that! This is not the first time it has happened...one thing for sure, they are entitled to thier opinions...but then again...shouldn't you "focus" on the positive things about a product especially if you are willing to sell it? I think they should rethink thier marketing strategy. (that's just me)-

It sounds like bad marketing at first. But think about it. If they tell you that a game they are selling is bad, doesn't that make them appear more honest when they say another game is good? After all, some games are bound to be dogs.
And unfortunately, I think that's what Rocketville may be. Further session reports I've read just don't have much good to say about it.
Now I'll still be happy to give the game a try should someone else in our large game group procure a copy. Or I'll give it a try at a con. But there's no way I'll be the guinea pig on this one by picking up a copy before I try it.

...OK, our group finally got a chance to try it (I was the guinea pig-lol)
Most of them didn't really care for it...they kept saying it is a "light"..."family" game. I think it plays too fast and doesn't really give you a chance to fully enjoy the 'flavor' of the game. I don't think the components were all too bad. We played using the Endorser Card but all that gave us was an extra card if a player was the only one playing his Campaign Planning Card.
Needless to say, I actually won...and I didn't even fullfill one Robot card, imagine that. There was no really excitement winning...ok I am Mayor of Rocketville....so what's the next game we will be playing....? I have to admit, I thought Vegas Showdown was a disappointment or even Sword and Skull....but those games are GREAT compared to Rocketville....I am sorry to have to admit it.
Sure I will try it with new people...even with my nephew, perhaps....but c'mon AH....please give us something that we can get excited about!

Nicky doesn't like it! Now all hope is lost... :D
Vegas Showdown was a solid game, but AH really needs some redemption.

I think the worst sign for this game is that here on the forums all the threads are on how bad this game is. Sad. But we can always hope that some heads will roll at Avalon Hill.
