Hello,

lots of games are already played and it seems that a 8 VP-game favours the axis while a 10 VP-game favours the allies. So playing to 9 VP is obvious and might balance the game.

I`m interested in your opinion if in a 9 VP-game the axis or the allies have an advantage, or do you think the game is balanced then (no national options and with the current AH-rules and Mike`s "clarifications, i.e. no "house-rules")?

Would appreciate a simple axis or allies advantage or "balanced" answer with a short "explanation"!

Hello Alantik,

I've only played two- 9 VC games and the Axis won both. Japan is the power to beat but haven't quite found a reliable way to do it without letting the Fatherland have its way. I think 9 VC is still very slightly in favor of Axis.

I believe a 9-VC game to be more balanced, however I generally play at least 10-VC.

Hello,

thanks to the few who have posted their experience. But I would really appreciate some more results (from 9 VC-games) to get a "reprensative" opinion about that topic! Thanks in advance.

We (my brother and I) have played about 6 games with 9 VPts...to our amazement: ALLIES won 5/6 times!!! Maybe it is due to the fact we have been playing for about 20 yrs and know 'our' strategies for the most part...we are 'Twins' you know!-lol

Call me crazy, I think with the (revised) game, the Allies have a better advantage once you start going up in VPts!

We do use National Advantages (option rules):

1) We will try this weekend to use ALL 12 advantages for Axis

2) and ONLY (2) each for the allies:

Soviet Union - A)Lend Lease
B)Mobile I.C.

United Kingdom - A)Mid-East oil
B)French-Resistance

USA - A)Marines
B)Mech. Infantry

...this is done to reduce the ' potency ' the allies have with using ALL thier advantages (like Superfortresses, China Divisions, Radar, Joint Strike, Colonial Garrison, Russian Winter, Salvage)-when all these are added: The ALLIES ARE TOO STRONG!!!!

[ Just a thought !]

I'm sorry wolfman! I don't see how two experienced players cannot have the Axis winning more. Japan is almost unstoppable in the pacific.

Maybe We are just used to playing each other with ALL the National Advantages- it makes a big difference for the outcome if you leave them out! [Also-the One game the Allies lost was by a novice player]
