In another thread, The Maquis posted a link to a Romanian Army site that I also like to refer people to. This reminded me of a thread posted in the AAM House Rules section where we listed sites we had found and liked. Since this section gets MUCH more traffic than the House Rules section, I thought we might start a thread here to share sites detailing information on WWII, both to get broader exposure and to get more input. I have listed several sites below that I have found, either on my own, or in other threads here. Everyone feel free to join in!!

www.afvdb.50megs.com

Excellent site on US armored vehicles. Lots of technical details.

www.axishistory.com/

Good info on some parts of the Axis, but spotty.

www.comandosupremo.com

Your one stop shopping site for info on the Italian military in WWII. Includes a huge photo section.

www.feldgrau.com

Wiki style site on the German military.

www.wwiivehicles.com

Good site, with lots of pictures of armored vehicles of WWII. Limited technical data though.

www.gva.freeweb.hu

Guns VS. Armor--lots of info on gun penetration and accuracy for a variety of WWII guns.

www.battletanks.com

Photos of vehicles in the Aberdeen Proving Grounds collection.

www.bayonetstrength.150m.com

Excellent site on the battalion level TO&E of most of the major European combatants. Also includes a brief description of most of their weapons.

www.lemaire.happyhost.org/char/edito/3398.html#18087

Another good site, with lots of period photos and general technical specs on most of the armored vehicles in WWII.

derela.republika.pl/index.htm

Site on the Polish Army in WWII. Somewhat spotty, but a valuable resource for an area not covered well elsewhere.

www3.plala.or.jp/takihome/

Excellent site on the Japanese army in WWII by a native Japanese. Lots of photos of obscure Japanese armor. Includes production numbers for most vehicles.

www.military.cz/panzer/

Another site with photos and listings of technical details.

www.tankmuseum.ru

A Russian museum site, with current photos of vehicles used on the Eastern Front--including the only existing MAUS!

www.worldwar2.ro

This is the site The Maquis posted another thread. Highly recommended. Gives complete info on TO&E, equipment, and all other aspects of Romanian participation in WWII--on both sides. Has a photo of what is obviously the Romanian model for the A&AM French R-35, down to the Arrow Cross tactical sign on the back--I guess they couldn't find a French version? After reading this site, you will have a much greater appreciation for the Romanian contribution to the Eastern Front.

www.tarrif.net

Excellent site first listed on a thread about gun penetration in the House Rules section (thanks Danyel!). Covers most of the armored vehcles used in WWII, and has a special area that allows direct comparisons between different guns, with penetration at various ranges, shell weight, etc.

www.jagdtiger.de

Current photos of WWII armored vehicles from museums and memorials all over Europe.

www.tankhistory.com

Wiki style site with info on WWII era armored vehicles of nations you wouldn't dream even HAD armored vehicles. Afghanistan?? Who knew?? Also check out the Danish ARMORED MOTORCYCLE! Includes photos of many obscure vehicles. You can spend alot of time here.

This is an excellent site. www.combinedfleet.com

Covers the Imperial Japanese Navy during WW-II. Also the entire Japanese war effort, the Pacific war, lots of useful information. A wealth of information. And the economic analysis of Japan gives a good explanation of why Japan didn't field heavy tanks.

Here is an excellent article that describes the rudimentary differences between American and German squad tactics.

http://www.dererstezug.com/TacticalPhilosophies.htm

There are a lot of good articles on the site, though its primary purpose is for WWII German reenactors.

I highly recommend this article.
