In addition to the rules that Raptors has quoted there is this from the Set 3 Insert that lays out the rules for the expanded turn sequence state:
End of Turn: At the end of the turn, remove your surviivng Aircraft from the battle map. You wont be able to place disrupted Aircraft during your next flight phase - you'll have to wait until the disruption wears off first.
In the threads that Steve referenced for his answer to Raptor's question he says that planes do count towards the point total, as long as they have been on the battle map at least once.
However it was not explained how planes that cannot be on the battle map at the end of the turn, jive with the Page 29: Battle Map definition and the definition of victory from page 10 from the rule book .

Can you explain the reasoning here as it seems to me that Raptors interpretation of the rules is correct, based on all published rules.
