click on the "my profile" link above.
on the next page, "view/update profile".

Then scroll down to "Avatar Image", and click "Select a different Avatar Image".

Then scroll down to "Avatar Image", and click "Select a different Avatar Image".Sounds simple. It isn't. You have to type in a URL address that has the particular picture you want. I haven't figured out how to do that. You can't just upload a picture from "my pictures" on your hard drive. More guidance is needed. For instance I copied the picture I want to my hard drive but this is no good for the Avatar picture function. And when I type in a web address where a picture is that I want, that doesn't work either.

I have been trying as well...perhaps it is disabled? I even had my custom avatar come up in profile and when I "update profile"- it goes blank again! Go figure!

Try removing your old avatar 1st. Make sure the url says; http://boards.avalonhill.com/noncgi/blank.gif
and paste the NEW url in FRONT of it.

Also make sure the pic is 80x80 pixels (not sure about byte size) and it`s hosted on the net somewhere.

The problem I think is I see no area to put in a custom url... When I click Select diff Avatar, a javascript runs and opens a sub window with what I described earlier, a button to "select this avatar", a Cancel, and a no avatar button... odd. Any ideas how or why?

-Nick- smile.gif I had the same problem when I first tried, follow the steps I listed and that should get you going.

Let's see. This should be Grant and not Sherman.

Interesting.. when I go to "Select a different Avatar Image" I see no place to enter a url. I see a button that says Select this Avatar, No Avatar, and Cancel. Then to the left I see the standard choices.... I hope I am not just being a dummy

Find a pic you like, right click on it, go to properties, copy the url address. Then open up your profile, scroll down untill you see enter custom url , paste the new url in FRONT of the one listed, do not erase it. That should take care of you. :D
