When I first got to the new AH site and these boards I couldn't help but notice that there does not appear to be any support for Star Wars: Queen's Gambit, which is one of my favorite of the new AH games. It is not even mentioned in the Games section of the site. Any reason why? Just curious.

Hello Christian. How are you doing?

Sadly there is one mention of the game at this site. It's in the description of the "OOP and CD ROM Games" section of the message boards:

"OOP and CD ROM Games
Discuss Avalon Hill's out of print games such as The Queen's Gambit and computer games like D-Day: America Invades."

It seems the support has been cut.

I always thought this game should have done extreemly well. It's easy to learn, it only takes an hour or two to play, and hey, didn't most of the rest of the Star Wars I merchandise sell quite a bit? And what a great title!

Some blame poor marketing. Who knows? Could be that Wargamers hated Episode I. Perhaps it could not compete with the Star Wars CCG. In any case, it seems that The Queen's Gambit has passed into legend. It may be wise to order some extra cards and parts from SV Games while they're still available. It might also be smart to find a mint copy and hide it away somewhere for a while.

If we're lucky, Avalon Hill will produce another great Star Wars game!

Take care.

I'll admit The Queen's Gambit was/is a great game. A bit of set-up time but a great game nonetheless.

The final battle from Episode 2 would make a pretty good 'old-style' wargame.
