View Full Version : The Hellcat

We all know of it. The oversized American monster. Some have declared the Hellcat obselete because of the M36 from CS. Tommrow I will get a Hellcat in the mail. I will prove that the Hellcat is not obselete by posting it's record. I think it will perform well because of its cost, AT abilites, Flanking attack, speed, and strike and fade. So how do guys think it will do in combat?

the hellcat dont have strike and fade... it has high gear... so i think it is one of the worst tanks of the game ... if it would have strike and fade it would be really good

It's screwed then. Unless I can take other tanks to outflank my enemy's panzers. Or use the Mustang to soften up his advance.

I alway's did well when i used the Hellcat... but since plane are out, i wonder about the rear defense.

It good for two things. Looking good on your shelf... and target practice.

I don't have the hellcat, but I do have the M36 - what are the Hellcat's stats and SAs?

I have 5. Only used them for scenarios and painting.

The Hellcat is a Hail Mary on wheels. I might use it to destroy a tank that is worth more than 20 points, or at least damage a heavy tank, before it gets mauled. On second thought, I'll take a Sherman for 21 points, and get +2 armor and good AI stats instead.

I team mine up with 5 Humbars
M18 [20]
Humbar [40]
That gives me a 60 BPV
Whatever I mixe them with does well
One or two double moves and you are in there rear aria.
The Humbars go after the Infantry making his armor Vunrable and can do OK in the AAA role.
If you can get lucky and Disrupt/Damage one of there Meduim Tanks with the Hellcat One of the Humbars might be able to finish it off.
If you can start with one in the woods you go second, take your shot and then make an end run. [Shoot and Scoot]
If you can get some paratroopers or put a Cheezy-8 out there he may ignore your Hellcat for a turn or two.
Remember the AAM M18 real tactic is
-Flank
-Then you Flank
-And then you flank again

One time you had seven. I have one, my kid another. They look good everywhere but the game. I wish WoTC would release a correctly sized version.

They have. I would not mind having one. But It does not effect the game play at all so I am still happy with my useless 5 :(

Now I know what I can do with my Comet. I can put it alongside my Hellcat and 3" gun.
Only problem when I set the 3" gun alongside the Hellcat, everyone thinks the 3" is the length not the width. :D

The Hellcat isn't a bad piece stat wise - it just looks like hell on the board compared to the other AFVs.

How do we get a new correctly sized M18 Hellcat?

You don't...

Yes, you can't. The production modells are all like that. And WOTC won't create again lots of this unit because of his size. The same for the 3"gun.

I think in the future they should recal all units that are oversized to much or undersized to much and replace them with correct units. In the far away future.

Has anyone noticed how out of scale the Hellcat is. In life, its chassis was only slightly larger than a Stuart.

the chassis was the same as the sherman, with the hull top being a bit lower

No, the Hellcat was on the chassis of the Chaffee.

Well per our good friend wikipedia,
In contrast to the M10 Wolverine, which used the chassis of the M4 Sherman, the M18 Hellcat was designed from the start to be a tank destroyer. As a result it was smaller, was only half the weight, was significantly faster and still carried a powerful gun. There was also more internal stowage; it was able to accommodate a five man crew as well as 45 rounds of ammunition and a M2 machine gun.
Just thought you would want to know.
