Well the negative waves have made for a angry week for all. But I thought I would throw this in for some people to peruse. Perhaps I should leave out the airfield map for now?
Some people wanted to see samples of the new maps........so here they are.
So people don't be burning little stuffed versions of Bob or Mons on a stick yet. The game is salvagable.

Yes they will be available to anyone that wants to download and print them. I just may have to put them up in JPG and not PDF format.
The basic open maps are being redone now and will be available first. The River series and Urban series require new rules so they are delayed at least until next week because we have more testing to do this upcoming weekend.
I will try to have the Beach ones ready in some degree before D-Day hits the shelves. There are only four in that series so its not to difficult.
They are meant for use with my own miniatures rules, but I have adapted them for AAM use too by creating new rules to use them here. Everyone was happy with the testing, but if you use the new Artillery rules and cover rules then the non-historic folks may be a tad upset.

They look absolutely fantastic. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. I'll definitely want to print these out and play with them.

Nice touch with the "reduced" hexes. I would never play a mini game 'til now for the very reason that I must have hexes (spoiled by board wargames) Nice compremise between no hexes and making them rather unobtrusive.

Hey, Northern, right on time! Nice of you to remind us, that the community and the overall gameplay is what makes this game so great. Can't wait for this bridge to be taken :-)

Does anyone have any ways to print out maps. Every time I print a map its a little to small and takes a lot of paper to make. I like this map and want to print it off when I'm able to without taking to much of my paper for it.

I think they are actually putting their names on the bases of the Chinese officers and setting them in front of firing squads. :D

Thanks guys. Glad it will be used and appreciated.
Yes there are new types of Cover, but it is not as bad as you might think. The only big difference is that we use d10 for Cover and for Combat rolls instead of d6 (which is numbers wise too limiting). You can stick with d6 for combat if you guys want, but the d10 for Cover rolls is necessary and not complicated to use. I will explain more in coming days by putting up the rules on my web site for you to experiment with. Artillery rules are the only semi-complex mods, but not very.

What's the scale on the maps? Is it 40m?
NorthernRommel
05-17-2006, 03:12 PM
No. My stuff is meant to be 50m, but the maps in question are closer to 75m which is what I have converted my rules to use. The other maps can be used with 15mm ACW and another game I have in mind. WOTC has a wonky approach to stacking rules that I fixed as well but you dont have to use that unless you want the higher realism.
I know the church looks big but many European ones are that large. The scale is a bit smaller then AAM, but it is still more then usable. AAM's ranges are somewhat screwed up anyhow, so just use the AAM/HHR cards as they are and it will be fine. I was hoping that AAM would adopt them as advanced rules for the game....but thats not going to happen. However I think some of the historic folks will like the rules if they want them.
The sheets are printed on 8x11 which makes them easier to print and photocopy, and they use a different geomorphic mix then the current AAM maps. You can kind of mix them lengthwise if you like but largely they work on their own. The sample image shows two of the maps - one from the river series and one from the town series.

Excellent work Rommel. You deserve a pat on the back. I'm thinking of downloading to disc and taking to Kinko's to print out. How big will these maps be?

The files will likely be close to a MEG each. I will post them as MAX size JPGs to keep the resolution clean for printing.
