Ive never enjoyed the cd versions quite as much, probably because no matter how much I try I can never spill drinks on the stuff and then go screaming around the house in an angry rage.

People often ask me if I am afraid to go into the board game business due to the fact that vids are going to "take over".

My reply is that there will always be something to be said about actually picking up the little tanks, planes etc and moving them around. That coupled with the experience of mocking your buddy in his face when you destroy his new fleet or capture his capital and send him screaming from the room.

However, if someone would take it upon themselves to create a CD-ROM version that is COMPLETELY bug-free and made with some pride, I will certainly buy it! But please, no fighters that say they cannot be moved because they do not belong to me (when I know damn well that they do because they are MY COLOR! @#$%&!!)

Besides, I need something to do while I'm at my job other than talk to you people all day!

Good night all (I said good NIGHT!)

The other great benefit to the board game is that you can see the entire board and all the pieces on it in one viewing. This keeps the larger strategic perspective in mind. With the CD rom for the original A&A game, I got tired of scrolling around to see everything. You forget things, you lose perspective. There's less of a urgency to the board game (besides the fact that there are build-in time limits in the online games). You're less likely to make a mistake, and if you do, it's likely something you're opponent will let you take back if it is a fairly minor error or a clear mistake rather than a major strategic blunder. Finally, there's something more satisfying about playing and beating (or losing to) a flesh-and-blood human, rather than to someone on a computer network. That's my plug for the board version. Of course, I'm still looking forward to a CD-rom version.

Imagine the day when board games and computers truly merge. You can have a full size table screen to play the game on instead of that little monitor. Setups only take a second. Games can be saved for later. It would be cat proof. It would be heaven.
