The reason you have to put them in a hex which currently contains a friendly infantry is because they represent a member of that squad becoming a hero.

That's how I always interpreted it anyway...

But in practical game terms...they can show up whereever there's a friendly unit, whenever they're needed. That's beaming in my book.

"Beaming" made sense with the Paratroopers since they materialized out of thin air exactly where you wanted them in unoccupied space - ala Star Trek.

Heroes actually come from other units, ergo the more accurate term would probably be "spawning."

Accuracy takes a back seat to trying to act cool, though.

Maybe they should have made a rule where you remove a garand or BAR and put the hero in.Ya know swap 'em, that shows the unit became a hero.

yep. "Beam me up Scotty"

Oh well. It may be cheesy, but I still really like the Heroes. I hate to admit it but the heroes do have a certain 'coolness' factor.

I have a feeling that Heroes as they work now are the real reason that WOTC is looking at expanding the stacking limits in a hex (as opposed to just the problem with making guns Large)

If they even took the step of attaching each hero to an existing unit by placing the hero under a unit or officers piece card, then allowing it to be revealed when the player wanted -- well at least that would be semi workable mechanic.

But right now it does not work. Perhaps they only tested (if they tested) heroes with only a few on the board. Probably work semi okay in that case. But once someone collects a large number of em......pffft.....forget it.

how many beleave that heros will be continued in up coming sets.i do not its a one shot deal.to much flak over the mistakes with this set will hopefully get them back to what made this game work.

Yeah I always thought that way too. This game is getting boring anyways, thats why I have made a great sin.

Given that the next two sets are already likely being put in the boxes, I suspect that it is the way of all future sets that we will see heros or similiar silly power game things.

By using heros and other such things to water down the game it permits them to pad out the slots in the boosters. Next set probably wont have obstacles, so they need something to stuff in there. I do hope its not ships for the naval version of the game.

Naw, the Enterprise is homing in on the red shirt's communicator so Captain Kirk can beam down directly to his location in order to save the day...

I wish WotC would make a Star Trek CMG so I could apply WWII analogies to it.

I'm still hacked that a Hero can be created from a Leader or a Sniper. Battlefield cloning at its finest!
