Steve had to reverse the earlier ruling. The post is here (http://boards.avalonhill.com/showpost.php?p=153236&postcount=7) .

Please disseminate.

This game seems not playtested at all.

I mean, COME ON! Rules as written do not last 24 hours after a set's release...

Don't forget, Steve isn't tied directly into the pipeline. He's doing the best he can but even the best do let things slip by.

On the bright side, no need for me to collect 194 barbed wires... :D

It might have been a simple miscommunication, these things happen.

I think its probably necessary to keep things from getting out of hand. Extreme numbers of obstacles just becomes a mechanical nightmare and an endless series of rolling to move. No thanks.

But yeah, I really wonder on the playtesting. Still, if they FIX it within a reasonable amount of time, I'm OK with that. Some of the issues that still plague this game have been around for quite some time. I'd rather potential mistakes get corrected immediately upon realization rather than waiting a few months for the next set to come around.

This was a failure of communication, not playtesting. Obstacles were always meant to work this way. I interpreted the (somewhat hazy, in my defense :)) wording of the rules insert incorrectly.

Steve you can't post twice within 30 seconds. Naughty Naughty.

Deja Vu, Steve? :D (he'll remove the redundant post and this won't make any sense)

Anyhow, the new ruling makes sense to me. Too many obstacles would be a PITA. You know they'd be abused otherwise.

Thanks for the heads-up Lynx.

Thanks for the clarification Steve.

No Penance required

But could you please create a header thread on the General Forum that is just for these rulings changes. Cause with all the tournaments going on tomorrow there is gonna be a lot of rules messes and arguments again since most venues dont see to read the Q&A forums.

That and the Tally Ho thing.

Thanks

No probs. After all, I was sort of the one who started this mess (by wondering whether I can stretch the whole of the Normandy coastline with Tank Obstacles... :) ). I might as well help clean up the mess.

But seriously, it is a valid military tactic and Rommel (the real one.. :D ) certainly tried to do it. I would suggest trying out no-obstacle-limits at 2:1 assault odds.

I would rather they got rid of unit limits all together and just set a sensible limit of 10 obstacles per 100 pts (20 if assault defender scenario where only defender gets any obstacles) -- or some such thing.

Would be real odd if the attacker gets obstacles, no? Just adding to his own misery.

A per-pointage limit would work also, I guess.

Ha! I was right ;)

Now I have to redo my reviews. Again. :(
