Greetings Again Steve:

From the Eratta (03/05/06) -

"Soldiers don’t provoke defensive-fire attacks from Vehicles."

Yet from the thread "Links to Commonly Asked Questions: Defensive Fire--Close Assault," in which TIGERR quotes the rulebook as thus -
"Provoking Defensive Fire
A unit provokes defensive fire when it moves from one hex adjacent to an enemy unit into another hex adjacent to that same ememy unit. The hex a unit is in counts as adjacent to that unit."

Your response being, "Page 22 -- "Target's Hex: A unit can make a defensive fire attack against the moving unit either in the hex it started in or the hex it is moving into." (Note that the attack doesn't happen as the vehicle crosses from one hex into another. It happens in one hex, or in the other hex. If the enemy unit is entering or leaving your hex, you can choose to attack it in your hex.)"

So, I rephrase my question. As a vehicle is a unit, when a Soldier-type unit enters it's hex from an adjacent hex, does the unit: vehicle get to make a Defensive Fire attack against the bugger before he resolves his attack?

Thanks,
Robert

A Vehicle is a unit, but it's also a Vehicle, and Vehicles aren't allowed to use defensive fire against Soldiers.
