View Full Version : Countries yet to be made?

I've always thought there are a few nations that need to be added, or that would be fun additions as a change of pace. What nations involved in the War do you guys think should still be made?
I think Finland is definitely one (I'd love to roll over capitalists in the Winter War :D ) as well as India, Hungary, perhaps Belgium, and the People's Liberation Army of China. It'd even be cool to do factions of the Spanish Civil War, but that's not really in the scope of this game.

Axis-aligned Vichy French troops would be cool too. I suppose you can just use the regular French dudes, but it would be cool if there was a separate faction.
Here's a list of some other Axis forces I'd like to see: Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Thailand.
For the Allies: New Zealand, South Africa, Greece, and Norway.

but if they are all 8/6 AI and 2/0 AT do you really want a different infantry unit for all of these? Just use your Free french or canadian midgits and you already have the whole army. I mean we are not going to see a South African army so why even have an infantry unit. It'll be worse than the Aussies even. I'd rather see those commons going to a Russian MG or US MG or a German para or.... well just about anything really.

How about "blanks?" They would be somewhat non-country specific units. The card could simply specify Axis or Allies and European or Asian theatres. Then it would have a bunch of blank cardboard circles where you could draw in the country symbol.

I definely agree Finland should be included, and besides Romania, other Nazi East Front allies, Hungary, Italy already in the set, and if the SCW is out of the scope (think it is) how about the Fascist Spanish Division Azul. Since WoTC seems to be getting desperate to fill out a 45 unit set (Grizzled Wehrmacht veteran?PLEEEESE), how about DAK-British 8th Army pieces for desert fighting Actually by WWII British army was pretty drained of soldiers from WWI, I would think it wouldn't be bad to have more or less generic British empire troops who did the lion's share of the fighting, ANZAC, Indian, Ghurka (I know we have 3 Australian and one Ghurka so far). And finally French Senegalese troops, who did a huge quanity of fighting in both WWI and II for the French.

I agree that there are many many many nations that should be represented. However, as you guys would agree, it would be horrible for WotC to just introduce them and forget them (cough cough Australia cough cough Nationalist China cough cough)
By the way, mykoko, your signature should say L'Internationale, not International. I believe that even in the English translations they still use the e. Besides, adding the e would make you look learned :)

Fascist Spanish Division Azul
I was trying to come up with some good stats for them, as a matter of fact. I eventually hope to do a little booklet thingy with historical stats, units, and battles for A&A Eastern Front (for example, Romanians and Italians could only fight in the South, and the Legion Azul could only operate around Leningrad until '43).

I think they need to expand on Poland, Italy, Romania, China, Australia, and Canada before introducing more units. I would like to see some Philipino partisan like units though. Maybe give them some kind of forest SA. I wouldn't mind seeing new units though, as long as they have good or new SA's that would make them playable.

To be historically accurate, the Communist (Red) Chinese forces would have to be a seperate faction/group. When Mao offered to work with the Nationalists in in fighting the Japanese, Chiang Kai-Shek flatly refused. In fact, the Red Army did more fighting against the Japanese than the Nationalists ever did. Chiang Kai-Shek was in fact "saving" his army to fight against Mao's Red Army after the US had defeated the Japanese. This inaction actually worked against the Nationalists in the Chinese Civil War, as the populace viewed the Nationalists as having done very little to fight against the Japanese invasion while the Reds had done much in that respect.
Given that this is a mass marketed game, I have a feeling that the above will probably not be taken into consideration and the Red Army will be grouped with the Nationalists. This rubs the history teacher in me the wrong way. Oh well - it's just a game :)

I would like to see the expansion of already introduced countires like the Canadians, Roamnians ets, and yesssss the MG for dem yanks and ruskies, but would also like to simply just infantry from specific countries that were in the war, South African, New Zealand for simulation of Africa battles, do not need and greater exoansion of these types of armies, throw in some Norweigan Infantry, Belgium, etc etc but just the infantry, the only countries that need more that infantry are the major ones involved, Lets see some British Commenwealth ( Newfounderlanders) possible Foreign SS units
yes, complet the nations before add the new one

I could never accept lumping the PLA in with the Nationalists - those bastards slaughtered the communists after they helped eliminate the warlords.

I'd love to include Yugoslavia ... but ...
Yugoslavia was one of the many early Nazi casualties of World War Two. It resisted as long as it could given its situation. The core of Nazi resistance retreated into the Carpathian Mountains.
The Yugoslavian partisan forces were a significant force against the Nazis late in the war. Marshal Tito was especially effective at rousing the local populace against the Germans. BUT, most of his force came from captured Nazi equipment. How do you show this in the context of this game?

Are you talking pre or post-war? Pre or post Long March?

I'm talking '20s, after the Manchurian expeditions.

This is an “ouch” situation in the 1920s. Von Braun (a Russian Soviet Communist) is directing the communist way, and it is not clear the way that the Chinese shall go. This fails because he is trying to apply Russian ways of Communism to China. There is conflict about how communism will take hold in China. Mao – taking control after the long march – sets his nation to collectivism.

Wpchen: Re: (L')International(e)
Yes, this is probably correct. I used the US lyrics, so I was kind of in a quandary as to how to identify it. So since it took forever how to figure out how to create a "message", screw it I'll just leave it as is.

Actually it really took forever to create teeny little pixel space for an acceptable avatar. You can't even tell what it is. So for those curious, it is the cover of a Bolshevik song book of "L'Internationale".

Austrians, Hungarians, and Allied Italians would be welcome additions to AAM.

Oo, just a reminder to WoTC that many a player anxiously await Finnish AAM units... ;)

Finns, Dutch, Belgian, Hungarian, Croatian, Greek, Yugoslavian, Vichy and Ukranians could be added for European battles.
Communist Chinese, Indian, Burmese and Filipino factions could be included for Pacific battles.

it would cool to get some New Zealand/Maori troops for battles like Crete and of course Africa and Italy. The comander of the allied forces on Crete was New Zealander and the troops were some of the best so it would be a great addition.
