Has everyone read the latest article: Countdown To Invaion?

Thirty optional rules! Ballancing A&A games is tricky. But, with thirty optional rules, that makes for 1,073,741,824 distinct variants! One of those is bound to be fairly well ballanced!

The map sounds exciting too.

I can't wait. Gaaaaaa.

Happy gaming

Please let us pre-order. This is horriable by putting these articles out. I may go into a coma by the 5th or 6th article.

But they haven't even said anything substantial yet! No order from me until I see the map. I'm a geography freak and if a map isn't accurate at the level it's meant to portray it is an instant turn-off.

Please, stay strong. I can't be responsible for any comas or electrocutions by drooling on the computer.

A few heart palpitations, that I can handle.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the columns.

I am really looking forward to the new game. One thing that a friend and I do is play the original game with the option to buy Europe/Pacific pieces and most of the Europe/Pacific Rules. We find that it adds some interesting dynamics to the game and allows a few different options.
If I were to only have one thing from the Europe/Pacific game it would definetly be destroyers.
The change that I am looking forward to the most is the map.
I hope there is a victory point condition. I played in my first A&A tourney at Origins last summer and the one thing that I did not like is that most people bought a ton of men and very few high end items. A game under those conditions would take forever. With a victory point system, it forces you to make some more bold moves earlier on, and you also have to buy some bigger ticket items.
I would also like to see different senarios, such as a 1939 setup or even a Coldwar setup.

I think the 15 articles are a great idea! And I do believe that variety and incorporating elements of the expansion into the game are a good idea as well.

I can't wait for the next article, and I'll tell all my friends about thew variant and this page.

I agree with mac, the map has to be good. Right now there are a few problems, namely that in 1942 the carrier fleet was at Midway, not Hawaii, and the "pearl harbour" that everyone does has already happened ^^.

You've got a great job Mike!

My hopes for the new revision are centered around the roles respective nations are going to play.

The Second edition evolved into the game where Germany is a passive Axis partner hoping for its ally Japan to win the war for them. I'd like for Germany to be allowed to play more agressive war trying to defeat Soviet Union before Allied material superiority can be brought to the continent.

So, I hope to see Germans attacking on the Eastern front with Soviets desperately trying to stem German attacks.

Instead of mountains of Allied infantry and fighters sitting in USSR, I hope for the intelligent Lend-Lease rules to replace them.

I hope building U-boats that would delay Allied build-up by sinking IPCs will be better German strategy than building mountains of infantry in Western Europe.

I hope Japan is going to be restrained on the land by India, China and Soviet Union they way it historically was, but encouraged to fight on the Pacific and Indian ocean in order to contribute to the Axis war effort. I want for Royal and United States navies to have important roles to play against Japan before German surrender.

I'll live the details to the designers, smile.gif
