germany first move

the other day i tried to take UK in the first turn. i think i had 7 planes (6frt, 1br) and 2 tanks.

since this was the second game i had played in 10 years (we have been correcting rules as we play) i may have not been able to do this, BUT is this a common strategy?

i know that i lost 2 fr to the AA guns and then lost the battle, i hurt UK bad but also lost all my air support, which lead to a very defensive game for germany. in the end i lost.

No you could not do this with all six planes and two tanks. I am not looking at the board at this time, but I believe only two fighters can make it without the use of a German CV. And even if one did purchase a CV in G1, it does not get placed until the end of the turn and it is NOT in the position to accept the fighters. It is out of range having to place it in the Baltic. One can also, NOT assume that they will lose fighters so they would NOT need a place to land. All fighters must have enough movement left to land safely somewhere...

Next, one would need two transports to take over two tanks? Were did you get the second? If you had only one, that is also an illegal move. Transports may only carry, one infantry + (1 inf. or 1 cannon or 1 tank or 1 AA gun)...

Last, did you roll the AA gun seperately for the planes and bomber? You must!

Never go into a capital with that little of ground units and all of Germany's airforce. Remember, one can never take a country with air units...

Niether, it has never been permitted for a tranport to carry more than two infantry or a tank. In the new rules, you may carry one man + (tank, AA, or artillery)...
