So we now have started or new incarnation of our AA Board Game to AAM's. This time we are using both A&A Europe and Pacific. CLick pics for bigger ones.

Here we have our first battle in Karelia.

Here a bad map was rolled for the Russians and they were slaughtered at long range by a mostly armored force. The Sig 33's can really wreck havoc in a 1941 game.

Next up was the crucial 3rd battle for Libya. Battles with many more units than the areas value create 2 out of 3 battles.

In this battle a wider map was rolled. Flanking german forces never seem to win the intiative and were supressed by Bren Gunners. A Char B1-bis bravely plopped down in the middle of the map and withheld all assualts until the very last turn where all three of a Stuart, a Inspiring Hero, and a Defiant Paratrooper hit for its destruction. Was a close fight but UK won.
Next up was Vyborg.

This battle was a Blitz action by the Germans (meaning they can win as soon as they control the objective, even turn one). But the Russians counters by using fast Cav units to prevent an early defeat. The Russians made some excellent use of cover to win the day.

That's a great idea with using a Axis And Allies board game board. My friend and I are gonna try it with a risk board.

On to Ukraine...

This was a new type of battle that can happen called Fixed Defender. Any battle that is 3-2 odds or worse can cause this. It allows the defender to set up 1 hex past the objective hex.
The center bunker has a spotter. Unseen are the 3 Russian morters the killed many Germans and Italians before being silenced by a Messerschmitt.
The far Antitank Rifles also has a epic battle with 2 Sig 33's off to the right of the pic.
Germans took the day but payed a dear price.
East Poland.

Another fixed defense fight. The all soldier Russians had to take on a superior armored German force. I wish I had taken a midgame picture as the flank move the Germans made around the city was quite cool looking. But the bloody battle ended turn 10 with 20 German points remaining to the Russian 18 points. Marginal German victory at best.

In this battle a lone German hero manage to take out the almost unkillable Cossack Captain riding a T-34. Germans pull out a miracle win.
Op! I did take a picture of the flank move from the earlier battle I mentioned.

Uh oh. Losing battles on turn one isn't good for Germany...
