Who cares about 'the rec room'?
I first sent an email to the AAMC official and if the EPT Monte Carlo finals didn't start on TV at that moment I could have been an hour ealier. Furthermore, there are 2 more replies here than in the rec room now. :p

I guess I just don't understand WHY they would do that? I guess because they can? There's people from around the world on that site, not just americans ....

Any word on how to get it up and running and what about games/tourney's
I guess I just don't understand WHY they would do that? I guess because they can? There's people from around the world on that site, not just americans ....
Because they hate all westerners and non muslims, not just americans. We just hold a special place in their hearts, but the do hate everyone else.

You know, before we get all worked up...
Teens paint graffiti on property all the time to deface it. They dont have an "agenda" or hate americans. They are just bored idiots.
I would imagine that Osama hasnt recruited a bunch of "hackers" to destroy axis and allied gaming websites in the hopes of winning the hearts and minds of Islamic fundamentalists. This could just be a teen hacker who though it was funny.

But before we take it too lightly...
How do we respond to teens that paint swastikas in various places?
Is this actually more like a cross burning in that the sabotage takes a bit more effort than buying a can of spray paint?
Is there a larger violent conflict going on which sets the context for an act such as this to be viewed as a more credible threat?
Just because a perpetrator is a juvenile or a delinquent doesn't mean they don't own a gun. When you see a sign that says, "The Death Will Reach You all Everywhere" and you see shooters like the guy in Seattle, I'm not inclined to take such things lightly.
If it said "Linkin Park rulez!" then it's relatively harmless annoyance. When it's a death threat in the middle of terrorist activities occurring around the world, I don't blow it off.
Just my two cents.

I think if Osama HAD hired hackers, wouldnt they be attacking banks, or government websites, or something a tad more important than AAMC???
Granted, this guy is looney if he thinks its funny, but again, I doubt this is something more than a silly prank.

I wonder if they aren't trying to hack military sites with a basic search code and it didn't recognize our site as a gaming site.

psycho, THAT would be funny.
And given the level of language skills that threaten our "Steep and Strong Castles", I guess it's possible. Someday maybe all our base are belong to them.
Squire, I guess I don't actually disagree with you about the probability that it's a low-level hack. My point is that during times of terrorism there shouldn't be tolerance for that kind of thing because it is likely indistinguishable from the pre-cursors to truly dangerous behavior.
It's like threats made against the President; most are idle stupidity, but none of them should be treated as idle stupidity. Too much is at stake.

BTW, I see the C-sub policy of making friends and influencing people has met with some resistance at A&Aorg. :) ;)

Making friends? What the heck is that?
There ain't no place that doesn't have lots of resistance. But soon all their base are belong to us too.

I came across a pocket of resistance to the Caspian Sub group this last week while talking to a player in my event.
There was a stong feeling of dislike for the CS and I think the term "Idiot-Savant" was used in reference to those who are a part of the group.
While I may not agree with many of the things that come out of the CS, I respect their work and dedication to the A&A community.
My response to such comments was for that person to get out to Origins/GCI and prove his worth verses the CS guys. His noncommital response spoke volumes.
We shall see.

Thanks Craig. It's always good to get word that people think well of me ;)
And he's right. I don't remember the last time I did anything that wasn't A&A related. I'm almost done stenciling all the walls in my house with AA maps and logos, and the USSR sickle-and-hammer decals I special ordered for my car just came in the mail.
What do the chumps who don't play A&A DO with all that time? They're weird.

This must be one of the strangest things I've seen via the forums. It strikes me as being both funny and a tiny, bit scary at the same time. Does anyone think this incident is worth reporting to the authorites? I know a couple of people who work in a related field. We live in stange times.

So if I was making friends before, what would you classify the current A&A.org debate as?
;)
There's a reason we keep CSub generally quiet. If folks saw the posts that AREN'T allowed through...

Oh, you're still high on the list of opponents, but it looks like we've moved into a nice "good-natured rivals" phase and out of the "monkey-dung slinging" phase. Not that that wasn't a fun phase, but it is bad for the forums in general and it's not how I like to operate. I like playing hard and debating hard, but I do prefer to not let it get personal.
I hope to have Switch at that point before too long. I think I've made my point about how he debates topics strongly enough that I bet he'll be a better community member in the future. I don't plan on smacking him around any more.
Looks like you may take a turn though...

Nah, I preferred to be your C-sub "Hannibal". Where all the little C-Sub kids are warned to be good little boys and girls, or the evil SC will come and get them. :)
Sadly, that other thread was locked.

Ok, I'll try not to clean up your image TOO much. I wouldn't want you to lose touch with your identity ;)
That thread was quite interesting. If he hadn't locked the thread before you got into the fray... Good grief, how bad a day would that guy be having if he had gotten both of us mad at the same time?

More of same.
I see threads like that and it's no wonder that so much of the A&A community is quiet.
I don't have much of a solution for it, but it is unfortunate.
And hilariously, the biggest problem child in that forum is a MODERATOR!
What exactly does that word mean again?

I don't know if there's anything we can do to help, but if you want Caspian Sub to put out any notices or anything let me know.
There are quite a few computer nerds in our group; if you want I could put out a request for help.
I'm relatively confident that CSub is secure simply because it is on Yahoo; the deep pockets of the company ought to result in some decent security. So if you need another communication channel, just give the word.

Hey, I'm buying my first house down here. Would you be able to swing by and help me decorate before my wife gets off of the work the first day? :)
