Yes, I have loads of them. But where do you get the tanks? Are they in plastic? I've recently bought some lead Tigers and KVs for my heavy tanks tech, but this is a pretty expensive way of doing it.
Conversely, I just aquired a whole load of Corgi Showcase 1/72 tanks at knock-down prices. These include dark green Shermans, tan UK Shermans and MkIV Panzers in dark grey. Made in metal with very nice detail. They do fighter planes also, but in a slightly smaller scale. I'm thinking of doing a "Full Scale" version of the D-Day game with these.

i get mine from GHQ...they are expensive, but they have the best detail IMO...there are others, just not as nice...

try ebay, there you will find killer deals on GHQ...

i just found a site for pewter aircraft...ive received some of my order, but most is on back order...

the company is from the UK, so hey, you have a real good chance of finding them there...

they are called vapourtrails aircraft, and they are up there with GHQ in quality...

edit: full scale 1/72 game...wow, that would be kewl...i havent started on a d-day version yet...
cant wait !!

As regards infantry, I'm still looking for a decent set of Soviets.
The best I've got are the Atlantic Red Army set.
Not great poses but at least they're in winter gear (overcoats and fur hats).
I'm on the look out for the Revel Siberians and Cossak sets for my proposed ski-troops and cavalry units, but they must be out of production at this time.
Anyway thanks for the info: will check these out later.

One issue I have with WWII figure sets is that normally something like half the figures are standing firing guns like so many Napoleonic fusiliers.
A report commissioned my the Trueman government after the war found that only 2% of GIs were actually prepared to fire a gun at an enemy soldier. These were
1. The Hero type. An out-and-out altruist who did most of the fighting to get it over with and spare further losses to his buddies. Most of these chaps came home in body bags.
2. The sociopath type. These fellows actually enjoyed killing and torturing enemy soldiers due to their total lack of human empathy. Most came home from the war and took up dentistry.

If I wanted the best German, US, British, Russian, and Japanese, what should I buy (out of the ones you gave or more)? Like only one set for each I mean. i really like the "Matchbox" ones.

elbowmaster

matchbox are the classics, and harder to find...your best bet with those are on ebay...i scored of a couple boxes of matchbox japanese, some of my favorites as well...all the ones i posted above are ones i use, i pick the poses i like...you can do the same !!

revell is my favorite, but i have favorite poses from each company...

Hey, Elbowmaster, I was wondering if you use specific figures for minor countries.
For example, it seems that HaT is producing Polish and Romanian Infantry.
Also, due to China recruiting German instructors, Revel WW1 Germans are a pretty good match for WWII Chinese Nationalists.
Does anyone know a match for Finnish troops?

elbowmaster

currently, i too am waiting for HAT to release its new WWII figures...

for neutrals, ive been using my fortress america partisan figures (painted of course)...

for chinese units, ive been using WWII french units, the ones with barrets, i use for french, the ones with the helmets work well for chinese...not the best solution, but one that works...will post some of my painted neutrals later...

The Web site http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Index.html that elbomaster mention is with out question the most complete review of 1/72 scale soldiers. For the purist / incredibly ****, such as my self, one thing to watch out for is the average height of the figures. They can range any where from 21 to 26. All of the Matchbox figures are a little smaller scale as opposed to the Revell, Italeri ect.

If you are looking for aircraft 1/700 scale planes will work. They are a little smaller then the ones in A&A. They are used for modeling warships.

pretty hard to find aircraft, vaportrails, if you can find them, they are excellent...i mean, is that cool or what????
