I am just wondering if there is any nice ways to transport the games from one locations to another.

I mean, right now, I have A&A, A&A: Europe, and Diplomacy. Out of all three of them, Diplomacy has the most useful figure tray. The one in A&A serves its purpose, but it is only good if you keep it underneath your bed or on a shelf. Europe's is just crap.

I do alot of gaming groups at my LGS, and I am just wondering if there is a better way.

If anyone else has this perdicament, let me know what you use.

I had the same problems with my games, until I started buying plastic tackle boxes. Most have adjustible compartments to help each the different size of unit or numbers. Most boxes can be purchased at the various discount and hardware stores.

Wal-Mart has some Plano tackleboxes that work perfectly. If you need model numbers for the model that has worked best for me, I can get it...

I suggest ziploc bags for your pieces. And sort out the pieces for the starting forces and store them in separate bags for each player. Makes setting up in the future much easier.

Take a few moments to bag eveything back up at the end of each game, too, so that everything is ready to go for the next game session.

Not without modification. The board won't fit well under the tray, and it won't go on top and have the box top fit. The board is also just a little too wide to fit in the recessed area of the top of the tray. I suppose you may be able to cut out a little more area there without compromising structural intesgrity, but I haven't tried it.

There's a guy named shawn wells who makes wood boxes and trays for a&a. He made me a box for me that holds the old game, revised, pacific, and europe. It has 10 unit trays and 2 large trays for IPCs, dice, anti-air, and ICs. The whole thing cost me 80 bucks and well worth it. E-mail me at sinister@saintly.com if you want his e-mail.

I bought one of those storage trays back when I got a bunch of extra units for E&P and utilize it for the new A&AR. If you tilt the mapboard slightly underneath the tray it fits reasonably well. It would probably fit perfecly if you trim off the "foot" that runs around the base of the tray.

Didn't anyone else get the 2 1/2x4x10 cardstock box in their set? Not an ideal solution, but it seems better than nothing. It looks like all the units could easily fit in it and be divided into compartments for each player if you cut an index card to fit and bent it into an "L" shape to keep the pieces from creeping beneath the divider. That's what I was going to do before I remembered that tray sitting in my closet collecting dust.

If the D-Day box is the same size, I'll probably order another one from SV games.

Just got a Plano tacke box, and it's perfect. People seem to be having problems with the airplanes breaking off of their posts. I use a little cardboard box that some of the pieces I bought on ebay came in. It's exactly the right height for airplanes attached to their bases so if you put them inside upright, they can't fall over, just slide around. I think they are safe in there from breaking, and it fits perfectly into the bottom of my tackle box. The box also fits the dice quite nicely in one of the trays. The cards, rulebook, ruler for LOS, folded maps (I have since laminated mine, so they don't fit now) and counters in a ziploc all fit nicely in the bottom.

I got a tacklebox at Wal-Mart last week. I'm not sure what the brand is, but it has 4 trays of semi-clear plastic that slide into a frame that has a handle on it to carry. The trays are perfect for holding minis, and have adjustable dividers. They won't accomodate the maps or cards, but since almost all my gaming is in my home anyway, this isn't a problem.

A great fit is Hobby Lobbys clear craft cases for under $2 each. 17 induvidual compartments and tanks fit at least 1 per space, but in most cases, you can fit 2-4 in each space! The biggest tanks require a very small bit of cutting of the case but besides those 3 tanks, everything else goes right in!

I buy flat craft storage boxes from a local art supply place for tanks and put the infantry in ziploc bags. All the zip locs and maps go into a cardboard box.

Well, IMHP I beleive the best way would have to go to Games Workshop. Although their cases are pricey, theyre pre-slotted foams are ideal for tanks. You can always buy more from the company if yah need to. I use them for my Hero Clix and D & D minis and theyre pimptastic!

The odd thing is we were talking about the A&A boardgame. Miniatures didn't exist yet. I wonder how it got into the miniatures forum archive.

LOL! :D This has my vote for the thread most likely to be made into a "Twilight Zone" episode! :D

I have been very happy with Plano Tackle Box Model 1364-20 (http://www.planomolding.com/content/index.cfm?siteaction=product&lineid=2&groupid=12&sectionid=39&partid=89) . The top section is just big enough for folded maps and the pull out drawers have dividers for separating units.

If you have a very large collection go for the even larger 1373-00 (http://www.planomolding.com/content/index.cfm?siteaction=product&lineid=2&groupid=12&sectionid=39&partid=88) .

I recently found a contraption called a "Bait Box" at the local Arkansas-based national chain retailer, and it works pretty well for holding minis. It has four tackle boxes with adjustable compartments, and they are all held by a plastic wrap-around, and it can be carried or wall-mounted. Cost was about 15 bucks.

Tackle boxes are ideal. Check out your local Dicks Sporting Goods or Bass Pro shop.
I prefer the 3 inch deep "snap shut" lure cases. They fit nicely in a back pack/book bag.

Of course, Germany does tend to overrun a 8"x12" tacklebox quite quickly.

This is true :D
That is why I prefer lure cases. They are normally clear. 1.5 to 3 inches deep, and 10 by 14.
One of these cases hold my entire German force. Four of these cases fit nicely in a book bag.
I can easily transport my entire collection on my shoulder.

For the old board games, I have no idea. But for A&AM Plano tackle boxes work the best. I mean it to. If your force gets to big, you can just get another. The single boxes aren't that expensive and its great. Everyone around here uses Plano for carrying there figures.

Why not just get one of the card cases they sell for trading card games, i have a friend who usees one of those, and it will work if your not carrying to many.

I prefer the snap on boxes in the sewing section of Target. Whenever I get more miniatures I just add a new box on the bottom and carry them all by one handle.

Plano is the best storage box I've seen yet but the problem is, that is difficult to transport 8 Plano cases around. So I had to get one of those 2 wheeled carts and strape all the cases down. It looks funny but it works really good.

I was actually referring to the MK-19. Ammo can measures 17x7x15.
A 50cal can measures about 12x6x7

For Father's day I got a nylon bag that looks like a cooler. It comes with 6 of those clear plastic boxes that you can buy at Wal-mart. I also has a place for maps, pens, and dice. Very convenient.

I bought some really nice Plano storeage pieces at Meijer for $6.99. They have 24 slots at 6x4. There's two slots that are big enough to hold the 88 and AVRE. The JU-87, IL-2, and ME-110 can fit into those as well as the other aircraft. I took me 7 of those to hold my current collection and that does not include the infantry pieces.

The only reason I switched from plano is because the snap ons hold the planes without breaking the stands, otherwise the planos are good too. I use those for my ATS and ASL counters.

i got a double height can i will switch too when i fill up this one (almost there, need to stack things carefully) and i can always pick up a bofors ammo can or a 20mm unit
