Hiya!

Me and my mates just played our first 2 sessions of the revised A&A after it finally came from eBay!

Anyway, I browsed a little thru the board here and didn't find an answer to this question:

When you move a transport to conduct an amphibious assault, can you move a battleship to the same sea zone that the transport will unload to provide shore bombardment? As I see it it doesn't tecnically do combat, so it would have to start the turn in the sea zone that it will bombard from. Is this correct? Or can the ship move to bombard a shore 1 or 2 zones away?

And just another non rules question: On both our first 2 games, the axis (although different players different time) conquered Leningrad with the Germans in first turn thru some tanks, infs and fighters. Then in the first turn of Japan, they invaded India and the US had no way to get a VCity first turn, so basically the Axis would have had a minor victory first turn..?

We then just played further gaming for 10 Vcities, but nontheless it occurs to me that Leningrad and Calcutta are almost bound to fall first or second turn.

Help would be very appreciated.

Peace out,
~Aetherfukz

1. You can move and do shore bombardment.

2. You shouldn't play 8 VC games. Try 9, that's what most people use now.

You can easily hold Calcutta for some time. Try moving 1 Soviet Tank and 1 Soviet Fighter to India on R1 (the fighter can attack West Russia first).

Also make sure you "burn" your Indian Destroyer to kill the Japanese Transport in SZ 59.

You will have in Calcutta:

4 inf
1 armor
2 fighters
1 AA gun

The most Japan can attack with is

2 inf
4 fighters
1 bomber

And they must keep 1 infantry alive in order to capture the territory.

Even if your AA gun misses, you are still looking OK to hold Calcutta here. If you hit, it's not even close.

Hey, DY, it looks like my Russian defence of allied asian factories strategy has finally got through to you!
The next development is to trash the Japanese tank factory in Kwangtung/Manchuria. That'll learn 'em!

sorry Clausewitz, but you did not come up with the idea about USSR helping in defenSe of asian ICs.

Its an in your face idea, that any decent player will notice right away with any UK factory build in India and/or USA build in Singkiang.

I have noticed this, I have mentioned this, other people will have noticed this, other people did/did not mention this. I am certain that the gametesters noticed this.

Thanks for the help!

I will surely try to help out India with Russia on first turn next time we play (weekend). And also from now on we will play for 9 or 10 VCs.

Wanna bet? I'm certain that all major tournaments will be played at 9 VCs.

8 VC's really alters what the allies MUST do in a game... and along those lines, I don't think 8 VC's will be a tourney standard.

9 VC's should most likely be that tourney standard.

At any rate, do you feel it is at all possible for the allies to win against a good axis player in the 8 VC game? I will even conceed that India has an IC and decent protection.
