Gents,

Sorry, this has been way to long in coming but I have updated the Swamp with the latest on GEN CON So. Ca.

Yes, I will officially be there and running four AA Tournaments:

D-Day: BGM 00009, Thurs. 10am
Europe/Pacific: BGM00020, Thurs. 5pm
Battle of Bulge: BGM00010, Fri. 10am
Mega Tournament (Revised): BGM00008, Sat. 8am

You can go to the Swamp for official touranment rules. Please note that there are NO OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULES to date for this tournament. As soon as I get my copy of the game...I will be posting them...

You know what I mean. Outside of the OOB rules, I do not have any tournament rules posted to date...

Any possibility of taking an extended break in the middle of the Mega Tournament on Saturday so that folks (like me) can play in the A&A Minis tournament at noon? Or work out some sort of arrangement?

Otherwise, I think I'm going to choose minis that day. :-/

Gents,

I have received the official rules from WotC/AH. I will be posting them as soon as I can scan them...

As far as taking breaks, I guess that depends on how many sign up for the tournament. But most likely, that won't happen. If anything, we might push the start time back to around noon...? Sorry...I try and run a tight schedule.

This is one of the problem we have had since mini's have been out. The deliema of choosing between the two...

Peace,
GS:)

Well, at least there's the AAE/AAP tournament each night at 5pm.

How will that work?

I have a couple of GCSC questions.

Regarding the AAE/AAP tournament. A buddy of mine can only make it to GenCon on Friday and Saturday, if I play without him on Thursday night and make it to round 2 can he be my teammate on Friday night (and Saturday night if we win on Fri)?

Regarding the BotB tournament. "We will have games to be played on and given away...." is a little unclear. Does this mean, the games will be provided for our use or does this mean games will be available for purchase to be used?

So can a teammate jump in or out for all the A&A tournaments? This could very well solve my time conflict problem for the mega tournament.

I play with my teammate until the A&A Minis tournament, he continues on without me. When I'm done with minis, I join back up with him.

Is that legit? If so, excellent! I can maximize my Axis & Allies playing time!

From what i understand Smorey insists on teams of 2+ which i presume allows for the possibility of one person going from one game to another as long as it does not interfere with established time limits to finish the round. I am supposed to help him out in running the events but i have yet to hear from him as to what exactly is going on other than what is on his site.

Yes, this is perfectly legal.

Sorry guys...ok the answer to your questions. Squirecam was correct for the most part. All but the Bulge tournament are suppose to be teams but I will not be overwhelmingly upset if it does not happen. So, if a partner misses the first game, yes he can sit in for the rest. The thing you can't do is switch partners every round.

Now for the games. For all Games except Bulge, you must bring a copy of the game. And yes, we will have games to give away for the winners (Revised, D-Day & Bulge) & second place etc. for all the tournaments. We will NOT have Europe or Pafic games to give away for those tournaments but will give the other games away instead...

For Bulge, since the game will NOT be available for purchase before hand, I will have 8 board for the touranment and 8 board to give away.

This will be a first for me as well but since no one would have played this game, I do have the official rules and I am currently reading over them so I know what to expect but, a brief rules description will be given at tournament time and we will all just have to shoot from the hip on this one. The person that gains the most knowledge about playing the game the fastest will most likely end up winning. Everyone that enters will get a copy of the game. At least that is what WotC has informed me...

As for the rest of the story...

Peace,
GS:)

More Great news! I got my copy of Bulge last night and we played...very cool. Some of it was confusing as most is the first time one plays and had a few questions but for the most part, very cool.

Get used to the change in dice and hits is one of the hardest things...using 12-sided dice and designating hits on units based on the numbers rolled was kind interesting...and boy when turn 5 rolls around for the Allies, if Germany does not win by then, watch out...

Until next time...
Peace,
GS:)

I just got off the phone with Greg Smorey (smo63).

He made it to SoCal and was hanging out with Imperious Leader and djensen47.

Sounds like Squirecam is weaseling out and not making it over the mountains till tomorrow.;)

I need an accomplice at GenCon SoCal. Find Wil Upchurch (he will be running or least help running the Dreamblade tourney).

Tell him "When Cupid chooses poorly the Hunter kills true love".

Real nice!

Just leave Greg hangin'.

I called to razz you and you weren't even there. I should have known you were having troubles when you didn't make it for the D-Day event.

Guys,

Made it back...but had the flight from hell on the way back. Still do not have my luggage and I had to run through the whole Minn/St.Paul airport in 10 minutes...made it on a bad knee...but my luggage did not...

Anyhow, soon as I get it I will update the swamp with all the great results...

Yes, it was sad to miss Squirecam...but it was great to meet IL and DJ and the rest of the guys that played in the tournaments.

As for the tournaments, yes, IL was right, small potatoes comparitively speaking to both Origins and GEN CON Indy.

We had a no show for the D-Day Tournament. For E/P we had a whole four players. For Battle of the bulge we had a nice small 8 player tournament with everyone getting a copy of the game for free! And the Mini-Mega tournament had eight as well, and the same, all players got a copy of the game of choice...

So, free stuff was abundant for those that did play...

Anyhow, thanks to all those who did show and to WotC/AH for all the great games and prizes...

Peace,
GS:)
