Tough question... non-gamers tend to offer more for an item if it is still sealed. However, with the ease of shrink wrapping an item, it is hard to tell whether or not an item is truly "factory sealed" or merely "sealed". Many gamers prefer to get an opened game IF all of the parts have been verified to getting a sealed, out-of-print game where parts cannot easily be replaced if there is a problem.
Unpunched is a different story. While some gamers would just as soon have this work done for them, I think the majority would prefer to have all of the pieces still in the cardboard frames. It makes it very easy to verify that everything is there and undamaged.
As to your question, I guess that would depend on how easily you can get another copy. If you can get a "player's copy" for a reasonable price and use that, you might as well do so and save your mint version for a rainy day. If not, why then go ahead and crack your copy and enjoy the game.
