The other day we were playing a Germany vs USA battle. My usual playing partner, moving second, places his SS-Panther one hex away from my Chaffee and two hexes away from my Sherman. He knows I usually roll only 1's and 2's, so he's a bit cocky about the situation. I get to roll 13 dice against him. I get 12 hits, a kill with one shot. I can't remember what I did with the Sherman, but I think the crew paused to have a smoke. The Panther only disrupts the Chaffee from point blank. Of course, since then I'm back to rolling 1's and 2's, but for that one shining moment...

Last week TA and I played a 100 pointer on a randomly determined map. He fielded an IS-3. I hit him with the sniper Headshot. Then, I sent an Flamingo, with the help of a Fuel Dump, down the road and got into a city which was in his backside. I rolled for the flamethrower, 11 dice - MISSED!!! Not even enough successes to do anything what-so-ever. He shot at me and I made the cover roll. Yippee!! I got a second chance since he didn't move - 11 more dice - MISSED!!! Again, not enough to even disrupt the beast. Plan B - I sent a BMW down the same road and unloaded the Grizzled Vet into his hex - MISSED!!! I could not roll any 6s to save my life.

Then two days later, Kaufschtick and I played a German vs Russian battle on Urban Combat. I got to set up first and placed on the side of the object. Eventually I got an MG 42 team into the hex that connects the two large cities. Poor Kaufy kept up some major fire on these guys and I got the cover rolls EVERY SINGLE TIME!! What luck!!! I used an Ammo dump this game and it didn't even come into play. The game with TA and I saw some many 1s rolled that it wasn't even funny!! It's the luck of the dice I suppose.

I had a disrupted SSPG destroy a P-51 mustang. I rolled 4 sixes and 1 roll of 1...with the ammo dump. Rolled that 5th 6 and the guys jaw hit the floor.

once in the the old MB board game, I once saw an opening attack on pearl harbor fail, that never happens but the guy missed with everything in the first two rounds of combat.

Last week I was retreating my Veteran Tiger from a hex occupied by an American Flamethrower (mainly because I was adjacent to two Crocodiles to boot!). The croc's couldn't defensive fire due to my move angle. The US Flamer thrower through 6 successes on 7 dice. No 6's, but enough to disrupt me and keep me in place. I died instantly that round in combat to the first Croc.

The other day I was playing with some friends 3-way 300 points each. One of them shot down my IL-10 and my other friend’s typhoon and P-38 with a Me-110 . That despite the mass of flak fired at it was never even disrupted.

One battle I was able to destroy a T-35 after 3 turns of manuevering, with a Panzer 38(t) at medium range from behind. The retaliation of 2 successful dice ment I stayed in the fight and was able to hold the objective. It was a good game.

This was mean.

I was stting there on a huge map with a Jagdtiger and hit an IS-2 about 14 hexes away and damaged it. It couldnt do anything since it was just out there.

Hawker typhoon getting shot down by an imperial sergeant. Fired an AA gun and pretty much all my MGs at it. Never did squat! Then the sergeant whipped out the good ol Nambu pistol and shot it. I got four 5s and a 6. Just enough to take the bird down.

I have to admit I have seen some pretty flaky and funny games of AAM.

The very first demo I had was by a store owner who took a Tiger I against me with a Sherman. Very first roll I got on his flank and rolled ALL sixes. That was a short demo.

When I played in one tournament a couple of months after that I had about ten units and my opponent had max fifteen. In the course of two back to back games I never killed, damage, or even disrupted ANYTHING. The gods were so mad at me that day.

In the Set IV release game with the Beach Map I killed every one of his units on the first turn. Man he was not happy.

Played a big Eastern Front game one day where I had one little Flamingo take out two KVs and two Guards T-34/85 :o The Russians surrendered on turn 3 lol.

Have to say that when the dice are hot its fun, but when the gods hate you its never swell.
