View Full Version : "Leap-Frog" Blitzing

A rules question for Krieghund, et al:

Can tanks use a "leap-frog" approach to seizing enemy cities? In other words...

1) Can two tanks from the same hex be activated by a single supply token, with one moving forward to seize an unoccupied enemy city and the other driving right through it to seize the next city beyond it?

2) If not, can this be done with two tanks from different hexes?

My thinking behind this is that the first tank seizes control of the enemy town, and subsequent tanks therefore wouldn't have to stop. You could also drive trucks laden with supplies and troops along the paths that tanks have just blitzed.

If this is legal (it seems like #2 at least would be), this would give even more advantage to the Germans. They would be able to blast through into the Allies rear and seize some seriously juicy points as long as they didn't pass through an enemy ZOC.

What makes a city friendly or not is where the front line markers lie, not where troops are.

Anyway, I thought you were still searching for a way to beat the Germans, not make them more powerful.

I am, but this German tactic could really stand in the way....

Anyhow... obviously you can't seize a city that has an enemy unit in it. But can you seize an unoccupied city and then drive a tank through it on the same turn to seize the next city beyond it along a road?

No, since cities aren't considered taken until the end of the turn; all units entering the city have to stop.

The city is still an enemy city until the front line markers move. Period. There's really nothing else to say. Because only the front line markers and nothing else identifies friendly from enemy cities. Really.

TrimChris is correct. Really.

Cool. Thanks guys. Otherwise the Germans could win on, say, turn one!
