In the usual tradition, let this be a thread where links to good information on WWII naval history be gathered! If the mod deems it worthwhile, let's sticky this. :)

First, we got to have the Wikipedia stuff.. as usual, wikipedia isn't a good reference, but a good starting point. Quick links:

National Navies

Imperial Japanese Navy (Pre- and WWII)

List of IJN ships (and also JMSDF, so be careful)

Royal Navy (Pre, WWII and modern)

Kriegsmarine

Regia Marina

Chronicle of Events
The Pacific Theater of War

The European Theater of War
The Atlantic War:

Battle of the Mediterranean:

Non-Wikipedia Links

This is quite an interesting site on several noted IJN ships and their eventual resting place. It's a bit heavy going, but worthwhile (at least to me. :) ):

I'll periodically sweep through the thread and append sites to this post.

Thanks for those, Lynx! When this game's release has been closing I've felt like I should know better about this subject :) Finding time to read all those is completely different matter :(

Wiki was of great help when I saw the set list and was wondering what the heck 2/3 of the minis were! I tried with google but most of the best results were from wiki.
