Though I'm totally 5/5 with the WAS discussion being moved to a new board, I am going to play BOTH Axis and Allies miniatures games. I look forward to some interesting four-player games, probably based on the most interesting tactical campaign of World War 2 [ I refer, of course, to the battle of Guadalcanal] in which 2 of the players are the American ground and sea forces respectively, whilst the other two take the corresponding roles for the Japanese.

How I see these interacting is that the naval units will have a land-bombardment option [which would need to be dependent on spotters, I think, so the Japanese might have to borrow a unit from the Germans], and the land-units' aircraft and maybe at a pinch artillery will be able to attack the ships. Perhaps we will get official rules to cover this option. If not, I will post any successful rules we develop for the free use of any other interested brethren.

Post them in the rules section. Once we get the AANM rules I plan on making coversion rules from A&A to AANM.

I'd also like to see this. 4-player -games with normal AAM take lots of time, and while this would probably need some ignoring about different timescale, artillery barrages & aircraft hitting battle ground between the rounds or next air phase would connect the games well.

I wouldn't make spotters necessary, just making the fire accurate; There should be some randomness in the fire anyway.
