Maybe they will include the 'Graf Zeppelin' in a booster set.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_aircraft_carrier_Graf_Zeppelin

it was 85% finished by 1941 and could easily been available that year or 1942.

Maybe for Set V or VI.

yes it seems like something for a "Reserves" type set, however, I do not see it going that far in terms of sets.....unless of course they aim to reproduce every single ship rather than just the class of the ship!

I dunno about this perception, here and on the other board, that Hasbro/AH/Wizards are going to pull out of the collectable miniatures market any time soon. The number of posts about their different games, recorded on the front page of the forums, reveals that A&A minis is about three times as interesting to us posters as their next most popular game [A&A the Board Game]. Furthermore, the average buyer of minis probably forks out in the region of £200 [about 400 USD] to play, whereas for A&A the board game the corresponding figure is unlikely to be over £60/120USD. So we're looking at a game that probably brings in almost exactly 10 x as much cash as AH's next best game, which is not the same as profit, of course: there will be packaging, promotion, manufacturing and research costs associated with minis that don't apply to the board game, plus there may be issues about product turnover [being stuck with one or two unsaleable copies of the board game is likely to annoy retailers less than being stuck with 20-50 unsaleable minis boosters]. Nevertheless I think this is going to run for AH for quite a while yet, and if I were them I would be thinking about new sets based on campaigns - Guadalcanal, the Fall of France, Barbarossa, Battle of the Bulge and Operation Torch might just sneak into their deliberations there, it seems to me. If they do it that way they can buy back/recall a load of old product unsaleable at the original price, reopen the boosters and stick the little minis into new packaging with a shiny new price tag, PLUS supply all of us Loyal Soldiers with new shiny maps. And Spitfire, Finns, an Aerosan, Gloster Gladiator, Polikarpov I-16, T-28, German ski-troops, Italian Alpini, Siberian Rifles, Norwegian resistance fighters ...;)

They've left themselves this option by producing capitol ships by name.

Well I personally have over 100 US ships and will buy more if they make them.

I am also toying with the idea of starting a British Force.

As soon as I get a correct number with names I think I will need quite a few custom cards!!!!!!!!

I agree. Mini games are so much more interesting than traditional board games and cpu stuff.

I have over 600pts of the four major fleets and I am hanging out for the next set of minis. More pommy destroyers some aussie ships heaps of aircraft to come I want them I want them.... :-)

different sources tell you different things about the graf zeppelin.

it was complete enough to begin trials on.

If germany gets the graf zepplin, perhaps USA should get Midway class. But you won't be seeing either any time soon.

It is both funny and fantastical to here of Set V or VI. Next we'll be talking about George Lucas's next Star Wars movie.;)

I've had Graf Zeppelin for months in my fleet. It's a great unit! I also have a German fighter and torpedo bomber.

Guess I got lucky in my booster packs! ;)

lol, it is a bit like that.

I think it one of them things, really hard to say just how complete she was. Maybe she should get the SA: Target practise :D

She was complete enough to begin sea trials with, but no more complete then that, and most importantly she was never commisioned.

Where as USS Midway was completed before WW2 ended, and commisioned only shortly after it ended, that is if my memory serves me correct. So fair is fair!

Set two is pretty firm; R.B. has already spoken of the molds being produced etc., so we can look forward to that in late Spring or early Summer of '08.

Anything beyond set two is conjecture.

Whilst I really don't like hypothetical ships, the reason I really really don't want a Graf Zeppelin is that it is easily the ugliest carrier ever designed.

But then again they already put out the Rodney, maybe they like ugly ships.

I actualy find the Rodney to be one of the most interesting ships in the game, even on appearance.

I don't think the Rodney is all that ugly.

rodney is hideous, it looks like a garbage scow getting ready to dump 16 in turrets into the ocean. (no disrespect to the vets who served on rodney)

Historical Note:

The USS Midway was first assigned to an escort carrier. The Navy felt the name Midway was too grand for such a small ship and changed the name of the USS Midway to the Uss St. Lo. They comissioned and named the much much larger carrier the USS Midway, and doomed the St. Lo to its fate in the Leyte Gulf. It is very bad luck to change the name of a ship once comissioned. Hence, the St. Lo was the first Kamikaze casualty of the Pacific War.

I've noticed, always kind of felt like they were onto something with the name changes thing.
