No probs, it was, erm, a pleasure doing business with you! But I think you'll wait a LOOOONG time for payment from the other nations you've mentioned, since you wisely wrote off their debts [or extended the loan period, which amounts to the same thing] as part of the plan to keep the commies out.

Russia/former Soviet Union and China [The Republic/Kuomintang faction] were the other HUGE recipients of American Largesse. I think you'll wait a REALLY long time for that money to get paid back! Maybe you could resurrect Rooseveldt and sue him for it :)

just thought I would mention those other countries...we do not really expect them to comply with their obligation...

with the Brits. it is of course a code of duty and honor that runs in their blood...that allowed them to do nothing but keep their word...

The british people keep their word (mostly.:D)
British politicians however, invented the term "Re'al Politic." Which loosly translates as "the winner writes the history books".

Funny you mention honor, when you consider the Japanese-American internments that took place during WWII. The U.S. government caused Japanese-Americans to lose, in 1999 dollars, an estimated 4 to 5 billion dollars in their businesses and homes. The government, in 1988, paid out $20,000 to all surviving detainees, totalling some 1.2 billion dollars. I guess we can't really expect anything more, due to, as you said, a lack of duty and honor. ;)

I never said that the U.S. government has/had a sense of duty and honor...I was speaking of the Brits...

Closing this thread for two reasons.

1. It's off topic for the forum

2. We dont really want to get into the discussion started here. It could easily flare up out of control - I hope you understand - we just dont want flaming , etc,

If you do have any questions, just send a pm my way.

Thanks
