I'm primarily am looking for ROADS to GETTYSBURG, STONEWALL JACKSON'S WAY,and HERE COME THE REBELS but do have an interest in other Civil War titles. I have STONEWALL IN THE VALLEY and understand that there were 3 other games that followed this one in the series designed by Joseph Balkoski. My e-mail address is mikedlayman@aol.com; any suggestions for good books on wargaming would also be appreciated

Actually, in order of release, they were:
Stonewall Jackson's Way
Here Come the Rebels
Roads to Gettysburg
Stonewall in the Valley
Stonewall's Last Battle
On to Richmond!
Grant Takes Command
Any remaining product for sale is available through multimanpublishing.com, which is licensed by Avalon Hill to produce these titles as well as any new ones in the series. They also have a magazine, The Skirmisher, which covers the titles, as well as a link to the designer's site which has other information. Unfortunately, most - if not all - of the titles are currently out of print, and often command premium prices at auction sites.

Wasn't there one other game, from Victory, that predated those on your list but was the progenitor of the system? I don't recall the title but it was about the Wilderness campaign. It's the only one of the bunch that I've played. My understanding is that the later, system games evolved from it.

This is true... the game was Lee vs Grant, and uses the same general framework as the later games. However, the others now have had a "Standard Rules" booklet issued, which gives them all the same system, while Lee vs Grant did not receive this update and will not directly function with it. That being said, if you master Lee vs Grant you are on your way to having a solid foundation in the system. It's sort of like being the master of Squad Leader and then jumping into Advanced Squad Leader (although on a much smaller/simpler scale).

I know that there are many that drool over that "Stonewall" series, but for my money, AH's Bull Run was by far the best. It has the perfect blend of action and maneuver -- from one side of the board to the other; rarely decided until the last few turns of the game; a close run battle for both sides -- not the Union route as commonly thought.
I have "Stonewall's Last Battle". Huge map with all the activity taking place within a radius of less than 10 hexes. All battles seem to start at about even odds but with scads of modifiers. Turned me off to the whole series.

Thank you for your info, I have found 4 of the 6 that I do not have at secondchancegames.com which is based in the UK (good thing I am find that looking is as enjoyable as playing). They are premium priced, especially when you consider the dollar to the pound is like the Canadian Dollar to the US dollar.

I want to thank all those who responded to my post on the Civil War games wanted. I did manage to secure all the games via EBay (where else?) and had a great deal of fun tracking them dowm. Now if I can just learn the basics .....
