View Full Version : Too Much! Too Much!

Too many ideas are swirling around. Everyone has a rule change that they think is the best. Some like the new rules, some don't. Everyone seems to have a different view on EVERY change. Aircraft, miscosted units, defensive fire, etc.
How will wizards possibly be able to satesfy this bunch. Any changes had better be water tight or I predict absolute chaos, mutiny, and a lot of ****** gamers.

I love this game.
It's not perfect, but it's fun.
There is no fixing it to everyone's satesfaction.
I will continue to play regardless, I just want reform that makes sense, and doesn't make the game longer or more complicated.

Ayup...design be commitee has always been difficult. My sense of it is that they are simply trying to get feedback and ideas and will eventually distill it into one design.

And yep, you are 100% correct....any which way they do it there are still going to be unhappy people. Even if they were do what everyone would like and re-spec'ed the costs of the units, there would STILL be plenty of people who would disagree with the decisions that they make.

I believe that many of these rules will be 'modular' (at least I hope so). So, if someone doesn't want to use rule 'x' or 'y', they dont have to. Future sets will likely be released with the standard rules in mind, not these 'Expert' rules so as to not force people to convert to them.

Damnit, we need a rule to govern all this rule-making. And then we need to change that rule in order to rule on the problematic ruling of our new rule.

We can do it the WWII way, anyone can announce him/her self as Stalin, Hitler or any other dictator, and just write the new rules, or we can solve it the post WWII way, we can sit forever in the UN, always getting our most precious ideas vetoed by someone else.

Your call.

I must say I like the proposed advanced rules A LOT. Platoon-pricing is a *great* idea, making it harder to shoot down planes is *fantastic*, pretty much every single change they are suggesting appears excellent to me. I haven't bothered to read the other threads yet that suggest some people are resisting these changes, but I have to ask - why? These are all changes that will make players much more likely to stick with the game in my opinion.

Here's to fixing rules problems and imbalances to make A&A minis a better game for everyone!

This is just the shotgun approach, and nothing wrong at that.

With all these ideas, some good ones will hit home.

I actually just appreciate having the opportunity to give input that is actually welcome. I don't actually expect to see any or all of my proposals enacted, certainly not without some modification anyway.

Cheers

I apreciate the feedback guys. I guess I'm just feeling overwhelmed. I have only been playing for six months and I feel like I just got a handle on the game. I'm just a little wary of too much change too fast.
I agree that it is nice to have some input. I love the platoons idea. And the increased def. fire damage.
The other rule changes just seem like they're grasping a little.
Trying too hard to please us might not make the game better IMO.

S'ok. ;)
It can all get sifted through the simplicity filter.

In its basic form it's a light beer and pretzel wargame.

Advanced rules, IMO, should always be optional rules, to be agreed on prior to the game...a vigorous menu to choose from for the best fun at the time.

yes the game was not created to be asl ,panzerblitz, or panzergrenadier its a nice good game .we do not need a 50 page rule book like in star fleet battles

post your ideas...up to the AH people to sort them out...and make the decision...

just want to say that I just found out about this Expert rules thing...I had basically given up on any historical realism in this game...and seldom visit this forum...I have been using my A&A minis to play with FOW rules...

this expert rules undertaking is great...a fantastic idea...I commend whom ever put this in motion at AH and whom ever is working on this project at AH...

I spent this evening reading all the pots...some great ideas...but...I guess I have to agree with Cpt. John Miller...there is a bit much here...

platoons , enfilade fire , firing at aircraft , defensive fire and over watch are pretty much good to go as stated in the article...we need to work on the areas that are lacking and that AH has asked for our help on...that is special units , AT facing , morale and tank-shock...I would like to see a AH controled/monitored thread on each of these four rules...other rules changes or new rules brought up here that are not mentioned in the article...are great for AH to look at...but there needs to be some control to this process...

I have been very critical of this game in the past here...but I must say that I am enthusiastic about these EXPERT RULES...
