Very nice .But what do you do if you do not have enough units to fill the card.

Rommel's Brigades is a standalone card game that can be used to play out larger scale tactical battles through the use of cards alone. It can also be used to create campaign scenarios to play out for miniatures if you like.
It also serves to allow players to randomly select a pool of Platoon, Sectional, or Company level units for table top play in games like AAM. In fact it was designed with AAM in mind so that it would make a good addition to the WW2 gaming universe -- so that is why it is well suited for use with the AAM rules. BTW A Brigade Deck can also contain other types of cards for use in the game, from Skills to Equipment, Fire Support Missions, etc.
The cards can be used stand alone with AAM if people like to buy platoon units.
SIDENOTE: I am not associated with WOTC/AH in any way. Me and my friends just like AAM as well - and I got involved in all of this back when Set II came out as a way to try and help improve things in the community. If people like the cards well enough to use then fine, but dont expect WOTC to back it.
Anyhow........
Those numbers you refer to on the card are for carrying out the combat at the macro game level. The other numbers on their (hexagon in lower right) is the cost to buy the unit and the box just above that is the Rarity (number of copies of the card you can have in a Brigade deck for a 300pt game).
The STD Riflemen that you see on the cards is specfic to nations.
In AAM that would be:
Commonwealth = SMLE
German = Mauser
Russian = Mosin Nagant
Japanese = Arisaka Rifle
etc.
A few other things like MGs and SMGs are proxied out when using the cards for AAM. There is a list of what is what but most should be self evident. Like for the Russian MG we use the Vickers, etc etc.
I made this system of platoons and action cards was available in a less professional form last year, but it was still used and well tested by a few folks on this board. They liked it enough that I decided to do a more thorough job of creating the game. That is part of what I am working on now.
I have attempted to get WOTC involved in the effort in the past with little participation from them. I do have my own game system for Minis play and that is what you see on the forum that I set up. The fact that WOTC announces the same idea as part of their advanced rules, and now everyone thinks that the idea is cool is a source of some annoyance to me......but thats another story.
WOTC weren't interested so I took an old set of table top rules I had and modified them to become Rommel's Battalions which is the small AAM type tabletop rules for 1/72 or 1/144 scale play. I also have dozens of new 8x11 geomorphic map sets, cards, etc for a new set of mini rules -- all of which are undergoing playtesting.
Unfortunately life,work and friends with cancer have consumed my hours these past eight months so the pace of development has been slowed down more then I would like. Plans to release the full rules last year had to be delayed somewhat as a result. However I am working on it again now so if life permits I hope to have a new and improved set of rules available shortly.
RMB plays like AAM in some respects - but is a more advanced game with more tactical depth and more rules then the general players may like. It is intended to be far more historical as well. It plays well and takes about the same time as AAM to play -- despite the slightly more involved learning curve.
While it is a time consuming process to build a wargame such as this -- I think the end result you will find fun. I know my friends who are helping me test it now find it much more advanced to suit our "grog" background.
