View Full Version : Solution to Card Prices?

There's been alot of discussion about how to fix over/underpriced units, things invloving platoons, new card being printed, states posted online, etc.
It seems the two driving forces are 1) it is awkward and/or impractical to have stats from other sources (online errata, platoons) because then you're adding more paper and things to look up, to a game that's supposed to be relatively free of that. The other options invlove 2) providing new cards or stickers for the cards, which won't happen because it costs money.
I personally dislike platoons - it seems like an idea which will only cause more grief. I think that the cards themselves should be fixed.
Someone mentioned stickers, which to me seemed by the far the best idea so far, but it would cost WoTC money. So, in the spirit of posting add-ons, rule changes, etc., online, why not put the stickers online as well? Think about it - WoTC wins because it posts it online and they spend no money, we win because we don't have to worry about stickers being in stock, getting the right replacement cards, etc. All you have to do is buy some sticker paper and print the stickers you need off - place them on, and you're good to go. Just have a unit/set number in the corner of it so you know it corresponds to the correct unit for tournament play (or just have a list posted online, since I'm sure people will want to check against a hardcopy to ensure the right values are placed on pieces).
What do you guys think?

Quite Frankly, I hate it.
Leave the overpriced units alone. Dealing with them via Platoon Cards is a very good plan as is future unit Replacement. (ala SS Panzers versus Panzer).

Well... different ideas I guess. I prefer to fix the individual units. I think platoon cards are kind of stupid and awkward.

I like the idea of Platoon cards, but not as THE answer to some of the egregious balance problems that are apparent in the game.
I'd like to see them for encouraging some historical/realistic builds and to encourage some otherwise overpriced units but not to try and treat the core problems.
If the other problems are fixed, then the possibilities for Platoons are limitless and far less likely to create a house of cards balance-wise.

I'm not sure how many units need to be recosted/re-statted, but I don't think it is the whole set. For WotC to redo some replacement stat cards for players to download/print or just put up a list of recosts/restats would cost them nothing to produce. Reprint cards would look better than stickered cards.
