Hey, its Rb77 havent been on in a while. Took a little aam break cus no one to play with, any of u remmeber me? lol?

Anyways so i was sitting in my bed looking at my AAM cards w/ no one to play with  and i looked over the maps. I realized that i had 3 sets of standard maps and then my idea hit. What if u took half f a map config. and put it with the same half map config and had a semetrical map? Both sides would be the same so both sides are fair. Then i came up with th eidea of Pre-Deployed units. Both armies would hav same # of units but each country would hav certain advantages. for example...
GERMAN/ITALIAN..
X2 PANZERII
X4 blackshirts w/ X1 Stalw. Lt
X4 Kar 98 w/ X1 SS hamsterfury
X1 Wercher. Sniper
X1 Brixia mortar
X1 MG42
and X1 Stlwrt. Hero

RUSSIAN...
X1 T26
X1 BA-10M
X4 PPsh SMG w/ 1 Commisar
X4 Mosin Nagant w/ Commisar
X1 Fanatical sniper
X2 Koumo. MG team (one in spot of mortar)
and X1 HERO of Sov. union.

Notice how each faction has 2 squads of inf with a leader, 1 mg/mortar (or 2 mg), 1 sniper, 2 vehicles, and a Hero. Each faction can be inter bred w/ allied factions as long as these #s of men are played. All units would be set up the same on each side of the map. I have played this set up w/ these axact units 2x and i hav won w/ both. Sorry if this was already posted.

It's kind of like adding an element of chess to AAM, if I understand you correctly. Mirrored map, mirrored armies (almost). Seems like a good idea. It would certainly get rid of the "I had the bad side of the map" complaint and the "I should have set up differently" grumble.
I think some people might not like it since it looks like it would "all come down to dice rolls" (Strategy would still play a huge part in the game it just might not look like it does). It would also mean that when people got beat they wouldn't have any excuses, and some people wouldn't like that either.
All in all I think it's a good idea.
Oh, and welcome back. Good to hear from you again.

I like it too. Balance is always cool. As far as matching up tanks - maybe make a point range for a tank to be included like:

(20 or below) or (21 to 40) or (41 to 60) and finally 60+.

Or, if you are going the "chess route".

Have your King be a 60+ vehicle, Queen be a (40-60) vehicle, Rooks be 2 x (20-40) vehicles, Bishops be 2 x (0-20) vehicles, Horses be 2 x Aircraft.
Then your front line (pawns) would be your infantry mix. Throw in a couple of Elites, a couple of commons, a couple of "specials", a Hero, a couple of commanders, etc.

Cool idea. You should publish some comprehensive rules.

Yes its just like chess!. On vacation I played my dad with these 2 armies and the russians seemed to have the upperhand tank wise. A point range would be a good idea. If any of u have ever played advance wars its just like the "pre deployed" settings.

Ty Shadowhoch. Ill do just that.

Too bad it works for every major nation EXCEPT for Japan - no Heavies or even "Queen" tanks - if you were liking that King/Queen/Rook/Bishop idea.

Would you need to "force" the action with some kind of objective? How has it played out?

what i did when i played my dad was we played for an objective in teh center.
The game play i guess could ten be changed to a lesser chess board theme.
Just the smae # of units in the Same # of groups that have a point range.

it played out as the russians hav to hustle their SMGs to teh front and the Panzer IIs have to take out that t26. The Brixia mortar had no trouble taking out the BAtm (or wjhatever ts called) The different abilities each unit had really made the game more fun and chalenging. for ex. The russian inf lacked range. The german/It. inf was average. The Germans hav crapier tanks but they hav a sniper w/ headshot. The Russians hav a lesser sniper but make up w/ thier anti inf x2 MG capability, whereas the german/ It. only have one MG and a crappy mortar. The ger/It. have a not so good hero but the Russian hero has to wait for the short range russian inf to cath up b4 he deploys within a reasonable range. There is just a lot of diversity.

Interesting ideas but no one seems interested in implementing them. >.<

You have no one to play with either? It's pretty sad that way...
