What are the Dutch units that you'd most like to see in the next set of War at Sea? Obviously, this poll can't include every option. But hopefully these choices hit most of the big ones.

This poll doesn't include any aircraft because so few Dutch warplanes actually fought in the war. The Fokker T.8 torpedo bomber is one candidate. But from what I've read, it was produced in extremely limited numbers. Better candidates might be the Dornier Do 24 patrol bomber, B-25 Mitchell, Brewster Buffalo or the Supermarine Spitfire.

Select up to 3. If you don't see your favorite unit here, specify below.

Were Dutch units in any significant battle? I can pass on the bit player nations for awhile.

Java Sea had a couple so if they throw in a Dutch ship, I won't be to upset but make it a uncommon so we don't get 15 of them.

Dutch cruisers and destroyers took part in many key battles of the Mediterranean and Pacific theaters during 1941 and 1942 — including Operation Halberd, Cape Bon, the First Battle of Sirte, Makassar Strait, Badung Strait and Java Sea.

I think the Dutch are a strong favorite to be the next nation introduced in War at Sea, with possibly 1 or 2 units for the next set.

I agree Marcus, their ships popped up in way too many important actions to exclude them from this game.

And they need to be on both sides, ditto Italians and Norwegians; the Germans captured a lot of all three, but a lot of each also fought alongside the Allies.

IIRC, the ABDA fleet destroyed in the Java Sea was under Dutch command, Admiral Doorman (sp?) IIRC.

I dont think that the Dutch need a fleet but I do think that they deserve a spot in the ground game

I realize minesweepers are a hard unit to fit into a game of capital ship combat, but the Abraham Crijnssen is one of the more noteworthy Dutch ships of the war, not to mention it still exists as a museum today.

My first poll votes were cast here as I believe its important for WOTC to do these ships.

I voted Java, De Ruyter, Admiralen for the sake of doing the battle of Java Sea.

I think the Battle of Java Sea will make a great scenario. It features two well-matched forces (at least on paper): 2 heavy cruisers, 3 light cruisers and 12 destroyers for the Allies, 2 heavy cruisers, 2 light cruisers and 14 destroyers for the Japanese.

The difference came down to poor communication and coordination between the members of the multi-national ABDA force — including warships from Australia, the Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom.
