The Avalon Hill web site has quite an interesting article on a old favourite of mine: Kingmaker. Is this any indication of a possible rerelease of the game? I would be interested to see just how Avalon Hill would repackage (and possibly tweak) the game.

Unfortunately, no, the article doesn't presage a re-release of Kingmaker. I select the articles to post, and KM is my favorite boardgame of all time, so I naturally gravitated toward it. Eventually I'd like to get some of the meatier KM articles up, as well, but I'll have to spread around the joy. Currently I'm prepping reprints of Thomas Kane's article "The China Trade," which introduces Chinese vessels for WS&IM; Taylor, Brown, and Marian's "Government Intervention in Rail Baron" variant; and I'd like to do something for PB/PL, but haven't yet narrowed the field. That will take us through the holidays and into January, anyway. Somewhere in there will also be a new strategy article for History of the World.
If there are specific articles from the General that people would like to see again, please let me know. Or, if you don't have a specific article in mind but would like to see a specific game supported, I'm happy to hear those suggestions, too.

Things from the General I would love to see reposted:
More Kingmaker
Some articles were written about B-17 Queen of the Skies. I still love that game. There was an article for a senerio for southern europe over the mountains.
Stuff on 3rd Reich. Another great game. Maybe they could redo that one!

I'd love to see Republic of Rome supported. It would be great if some articles from the General could be put online, I can't find them anywhere in france :

Hello!!
Man am I happy to find this place :D
I used to play the Kingmaker board game all the time back in the 80's & loved every minute of it!
Recently I came across a copy of the pc version & was pleasantly surprised when I was able to get it to work! (no sound tho)
...to make a long story short, my jubilation was cut short with a "leadership test"....this copy didn't come with a manual
would anyone happen to know where I could aquire one?
your help would be appreciated!!

It's been years since I played the PC version. Is the "leadership test" the anti-piracy device whereby they show you a picture of a castle and you have to type in which page of the manual it's on?

I think so...it was looking for a manual page ;)

I won't guarantee anything, but I used to have this game and I don't recall ever getting rid of it (I'm a Kingmaker junkie), so there's a good chance it's still on a shelf at home. If I can find it, I'll see if there's a way to extract that information in a usable format.

Good news--I found the game. I'm hoping that my memory is correct and that when the pictures come up, they include a label giving the name of the castle. If that's the case, then the list of castles, towns, and cathedrals with their corresponding page numbers will be posted on the website on Wednesday (on the PC archive page). If the castle names don't appear, then this solution won't work. Let me know which it is.

That is good news, but I'm afraid I have bad news...it shows a picture then a range of pages it might be on. I'm not sure if its looking for a page number or the Castle name?
I dont know how you'd do it now without scanning it & putting it someplace where I could download it :( & I'm not asking you for that!
the only other idea I have would be for me to take some screenshots & post them at my site so you can tell me which is which!
Thanks again!
*edit* actually, I think when you check the town on the map it shows the pic also...that may be an option!

I can see the pics by checking the towns (a lot are the same tho)
if you could put up that list, I can take the screenshots & put them all together on a page & print it out!

The list is up. To find it, use the left-hand nav on this page. Click "archive," then go to the computer patches, then scroll down to the Kingmaker entry.
Let me know if it works.
