Although I do not have them yet, there are three minis which I would call Freighters, yet on the final ship date from another thread (And I thank the creator of it for his effort and result) two of them are Auxilliary and the other one Freighter.
SS Jeremiah O'rBrien Auxilliary
Nordmark Freighter
Kinai Maru Auxilliary
Are these correct?

From rulebook, subtypes:
Ship: Battleship, Carrier, Cruiser, Destroyer, Torpedo Boat, Auxiliary
There's no ship type freighter, I believe... I'd say Nordmark is auxilary.

Was my fault on the ship data thread, somebody listed it as a freighter so I typed that since I don't own that unit.

No problem.

I can see the use in these ships for setting up interesting scenario missions, but man will I be ****** if one of them is in my first starter/booster...

I'd like to have more than one of 'm. So we can also play convoy missions.

Yup. I've got 4 Jeremiah O'Brien's for that very purpose. Nice to run little scenarios where you just try to protect them from enemy ships or u-boats.

Yes, using glass beads for proxies as the rule book suggests just sucks so I ordered 4 O'Briens for a buck a piece from a web site. Nice. The German and Japanese ships are a bit more but I envision doing mostly Allied convoy scenarios anyway.
A Mediteranean scenario could also be cool with the Germans trying to reinforce North Africa and the Brits trying to stop them so I might need a few more Nordmarks.

yeah I've already made up some basic scenario rules in my head as far as that goes... Basically give allies 150 points for building a force, but set the transports' cost at 25 points apiece... The only way for allies to score points is to have transports make it off the opposite edge of the board, for which they're awarded 50 points per transport (essentially they need at least 3 transports to get across). If at any point the allies cannot win, axis wins. So the allies have to field at least half their force in transports; they can field more transports to have some breathing room for transports to be sunk, but this reduces their points for escorts. I'm not sure how many points to give the axis in this scenario to build their fleet, because I haven't played yet to get a feel for the relative strength of subs vs. destroyers... From the sounds of things, destroyers are tremendously powerful vs. subs, so an equal 150 points for axis might work, but that might result in so many subs that the allies can't win... Well, I'm going to start playing tonight, so I'll tweak it after that!

That's a good Deal. I got mine for that much from Lee's on Ebay. Where didja get yours?

About the feighters. Normal convoys consist of different types of freighters, while the game now gives one or two depending on the side your on. May I use all three freighters in my allied fleet with the stats of the brian?

I don't see why not... I mean, in sanctioned tournament play you're not likely to get away with pretending one mini is another, but on your own and with friends who cares what you use!

Yes, I would say using the other freighters is fine. Who gives a turkey? They all look like merchant ships anyway.
I got mine from www.cardagora.com
He just put his WaS stuff up there and there are a few bargains to be had but some of the bigger ships are very pricey like Akagi at $18.00 but I also nabbed an Iowa for $16 which to me is fine since if I bought a booster at $15 plus tax, I might get a Salt Lake City instead. :(
The uncommons are the bargains since they are as hard to get as rares, if not harder it seems so 4 O'Briens for $4 is a steal in my opinion. Not sure I want to pay $3.50 for a Nordmark though. The repair SA doesn't seem worth it to me, it's just a merchant ship. I think Kinai Maru was $2.50 and stuff like Kondor's are $2.00. That's not bad. Scharnhorst was only $9.00 which seems like a deal unless you have to fight Washington or Iowa. lol
It's a nice site and they also have A&A minis.

I believe the Nordmark is a Q ship, and the Kinai Maru was a submarine or float plane tender. The O'Brien is a true freighter. Liberty ships were fitted out with some AA, however.
BTW: I got an O'Brien in one of my two starter packs. I hope my karma changes when I get my two cases.

That is annoying, getting one in a starter. In my opinion, I can't see them being very game changing, they more or less are good scenario pieces. If you actually got a Kinai Maru across the map at speed 1 and ripped off 8 points for doing it, you deserve to win! lol
At least if you pull a cruiser in a starter or booster, it has some guns on it but darnit, I want a battleship or carrier in EVERY pack! Im greedy that way.

It would be interesting to see if a few 4 point auxiliaries could cause a diversion if used right though.

Nordmark, Altmark and several others comprised a class of regular Kriegsmarine auxiliaries with repair and refueling facilities and a limited ability to house captured crew POWs in the early period when survivors were actually rescued by the enemy.
Altmark was captured in a boarding action in then-neutral Norwegian waters by crew from HMS Cossack, a Tribal-class destroyer. Three hundred POWs held aboard Altmark were freed before they could be killed by a scuttling charge.
One of these auxiliaries accompanied the armored cruiser/pocket battleship "Admiral Scheer" (Graf Spee's sister ship) in 1940/41 in support of Scheer's raiding in the South Atlantic and Indian Ocean. They were purpose-built to support commerce raiding by both regular surface combatants and raiders such as "Atlantis" and "Kormoran."
They were not armed raiders themselves.
"Kormoran" was well enough armed to fatally damage HMAS "Sydney" in a ship-on-ship action. "Kormoran" was sunk in the action, but "Sydney" drifted off badly damaged and vanished with all hands.
Perhaps we will see a German raider in Set II.
I consider the design of all three "auxiliary" vessels to be general enough for use in a convoy scenario; if you look at convoy photos taken during the "Battle of the Atlantic" you'll see ships of every description. "Nordmark" will pass for a tanker as well until one comes along.
I vote strongly for a T-2 tanker, the S.S. "Texaco Ohio," in Set II. "Ohio" was the heroic survivor of numerous bomb and torpedo hits whose arrival in a near-sinking condition at the island of Malta enabled the RAF to continue flying in defense of the island fortress. "Ohio" actually entered harbor with a British destroyer lashed to each side to keep her afloat, and although a substantial quantity of her aviation fuel cargo was contaminated by sea water, enough tanks remained intact to replenish Malta's exhausted stocks.
