As the rules read, PT boots cant claim objectives but can deny them being claimed by your opponent. Only subs and aircraft cant deny that.

So If I got a pt boot on an island next, and he got no pt boot or aircraft to battle it, he will never claim the objective.

Unless you kill it with aircraft or other shallow draft boats, which I believe was in the rules clarification we got from Richard Baker.

Who said you can't shoot into an island sector?

only ships may claim or deny an objective(see end of turn..."claim an objective if you have a SHIP int that sector, and no enemy SHIPS are in or adjacent to that objective") ships are carriers, battleships, cruisers, anD destroyers ( see the glossary). PT/MTB units are not classified as ships, therefore cannot deny or claim objectives .

the no sea control SA is not truly an SA, just a clarification of the rules

Who said you can't shoot into an island sector?

On page 28, under Line of Sight:

"Units in the Island's Sector: Some units can enter island sectors. A unit in an island sector has its line of sight into and out the sector blocked--and therefore can't attack or be attacked."

ships are carriers, battleships, cruisers, anD destroyers ( see the glossary). PT/MTB units are not classified as ships, therefore cannot deny or claim objectives .

On page 9, it lists the Sub-types of 'Ship' and there, PT boats and Auxiliaries are listed.

Methinx a FAQ is going to be needed soon. :)

IMHO, I rely on the glossary definition over page 9 since the glossary also further defines a ship as "a single specific surface ship..." however, by this strict definition, an auxillairy cannot claim or deny either. Certainly, a ruling is in order here.

A ruling was made.

That is a lame, let me walk backwards into the ruling type ruling.

How can a unit that can't claim an objective prevent a unit than can take an objective. If the reasoning is the threat posed by the non objective taking unit prevents the objective taking unit from claiming the objective then a sub or an aircraft should be able to do the same.

This doesn't even take into account the cheesy factor of having a PT boat sitting in an island sector next to an objective preventing that objective from being taken. :p
