Had this situation come up tonight.

My opponent placed fighters in my sector where I had a ship and a fighter. I missed with the ship and hit with fighters. He then wanted to use his fighters for Antiair against my fighters.

If a fighter is attacking is it not aborted? Does it get to make an Anti air attack, or does it wait until the Air attack phase and only use the main gun attack, or could it do both if not aborted?

Please clarify as it is the first time it has come up.

Thanks,

Aaron

Abort does not take effect until the end of the current phase, which is the Air Defense Phase. The fighter can attack your fighter, since that occurs in the same phase.

It cannot attack the ships if it was aborted or destroyed, because that attack must happen in the next phase. But if it was not aborted or destroyed it can use anti-air and still attack with its main guns against ships.

Just to clarify:

All units use their anti air attacks during anti air phase.

If planes still co-exist in the air attack phase fighters can still attack planes a 2nd time? Do they use the anti air attack value again or main gun attack value?

Thanks,

Aaron

All units with antiair values make an antiair attack during the air defense phase. Any aircraft that are not destroyed or aborted may make an one air attack ( and attack a sub or ship, no aircraft) during the air attack phase using one of the following if they have it: main gunnery value, ASW, bomb, or torpedo.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense.
