Atlantic and Mediterranean powers...IE British, French, German and Italian...of course the first five rares i get were yamatox2, tone, myoko and shokoku(sp). :rolleyes:

But at least it helped me build my Brit fleet!

After some of the ships from the set before they came out i was going to get the Japanese and some of the Germans.

But after i got my 1st Starter set and 2 boosters i decided to get the whole set.

After i saw the ships and planes up close that decided it for me for me my first love is the Imperial Japanese Navy and getting the Yamato was my main goal.

Well after i got it in one of my next few boosters along with Bismarck,Graf Spee and Kongo i knew i wanted to whole set.

After opening my Starter and booster, I am not sure whether I want the whole set or just specific pieces. I got the HMS Hood and USS Salt Lake City as my rares, so that was cool.

My first goal is be able to build a Germam fleet, Japanese fleet and an Allied fleet. Building the Allied fleet is the main goal.

For specific units, I already have the HMS Hood, so maybe the HMS Ark Royal and the Richelieu along with 2 Hurricanes and some Destroyers to build a nice Allied fleet. Yes I intend to build a fleet using the Rcihelieu.

I'm only collecting playable units.
So I have 4 of most aircraft, lots of subs & DD's. And a total of only 7 cruisers {Atlanta, 3xBaltimore, Tone, 2xHMS.Exeter} & 7 battleships {Richilieu, Iowa, Tennessee, Sharnhorst, Yamato, 2xKongo}

In some instances, I'm collecting the whole class of ships represented. For instance, I have:

Yorktown, Enterprise, Hornet (for obvious reasons)

Shokaku and Zuikaku (again, for obvious reasons)

Scharnhorst and Gneisenau (they often sortied together)

Nelson & Rodney (wasn't looking to, just happened to get both)

All six of the Fantasque class destroyers (again, wasn't looking to, just worked out that way)

Three out of the 4 Myoko class cruisers

Both the Tone and the Chikuma (they always operated together until the Tone was sunk)

The Yamato & the Musashi

But, I'm not going to collect more ships than were actually built in that class.

My collection has a glaring deficiency: Not a single Bismarck, and they don't seem to be for sale anywhere, either. :(

Well, if the mini is the same, I'll just download the card or photocopy one. If the mini is different, well then, guess I'll have some minis to trade. ;)

Alot of CVE's (St. Lo) were tasked to convoy escort work in the Atlantic. Obviously, the Liberty Ships like the Jerry O'Brien would be in the Atlantic too.

Likewise, the bulk of the Butler class DE's would have been in the Atlantic.

Well, I completed my set through some successful trades. Now I am going to focus on duplicates for the pacific theater so I can do larger campaign style games when new sets are released (Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea, Midway).

I bought into AAM late, so I do not plan to complete sets there( unless I get organized and can trade), but focus on the minis I need for scenario games. WAS has definately hit cord with me and I plan to collect and play as long as future sets remain historical and do not get to big that cost will be prohibitive (I already started putting $ aside for the next release).

Other than the O'Brien, I think all the named ships were in the Pacific, but not necessarily everyone of their class. Washington and her sister ship, North Carolina, spent the war in the Pacific, as did all 4 of the Iowa class. The 3 Yorktown class carriers spent the war in the Pacific. If we get her, maybe in Set III, the Ranger spent some time in the Atlantic and supported the landings in Morroco.

The New York, being an older battleship, spent the war escorting convoys in the Atlantic. That's another ship I wouldn't expect until maybe Set III.

As I recall, Nevada provided shore bombardment for the Normandy landings.

Funny, my A&A land collection is almost the exact opposite. There I collect Russian, German and Commonwealth/Canadian units. Probably since I'm a Canadian of Ukranian/Russian decent.

Yeah, would like to see some of the older USN Battlewagons.

Nevada, when rebuilt after Pearl, spent 1943-44 doing escort in the Atlantic, did support for Normandy and southern France, then Pacific in '45.

Apparently she was the first Battleship built with the 'all or nothing' protection system.

I started just collecting the Royal Navy. I bought 4 starter packs and 5 boosters producing only Javelins and Truculents. I had to by the British ships on-line. I am missing:

Allies: Canberra, Sydney, Le Terrible, Richelieu, Boise, Iowa.

Axis: Graf Spee, Bismark U-510, Karl Galster, Bolzano, Vittorio Veneto, Akagi, and Yamato.

So by getting almost every thing but British ships I had no choice but to give in to my addiction and try to get them all.:D

I've bought 4 starters and 7 boosters total and have yet to get an Allied carrier!!! The only Allied battleships I've gotten are the Richelieu and Rodney.

Hard to collect UK ships without collecting the Australians too...since many UK fleets and forces had UK, Australian, Polish, Dutch and even French ships in them. (And you can use the current set to make 1 Polish, 4 Dutch and 5 more Australians)

I blame it all on that first starter I got...just to see what the game was like...it had an Enterprise in it, I was hooked since I had served on her namesake.

I never found a carrier in a booster pack. I ordered all the allied carriers online. the last starter kit had Enterprise. so I gave my spare its escort and air group to my friends son. I also gave the dad Akagi and a Zeke. Just bought Shokaku at the LGS. So I have one of every carrier except Akagi :)

Battleships: have been better at finding in booster paks. I actually got Kongo, and Scharnhorst out of the boosters. Washington and Tennesse out of Starters.

Cruisers: I got 3 Duca D'Aostas out of the boosters, and also Glorie
out of the starters I got Baltimore, Atlanta, Myoko, Tone. had to buy Salt Lake City at the LGS.
