Here is a picture of the cloth map I created. In contradiction to the provided map, it lays flat without folds and does not tear easilly.

It doesn't look like cloth. Did you air spray the color on?
Must be very convenient to take along to your FLGS.

I would also like to know what store you bought it at and the brand name of the material. I think I will have it drawn to the edge on one side so to maps can overlap for a big map for large sea battles.

Thanks for the complements.
As for the cloth. I went to the marketplace where there are cloth salespeople. I looked for the best material, which resembled water. I do not know the material but this side is different from the other. The other side is more basic fabrik. It comes on thise 1,5 meter wide rolls, so I bought 1 meter. I cut it in half (so I can make another) and used a permanent marker to carefully draw the lines. It took me about three hours and 2,5 euros.
Here is a more closeup

It looks great. Except it looks like you do not have center dots.
You need them for determining LOS around islands. This was the only time consuming concern I had about making my own. But I still plan to try. I am so annoyed with the map currently provided.

What a wonderful map!
How did you get the lines so straight?
It almost looks like a Calico, Blue Tonal. Do not ask me how I know that. Man I hate shopping with my wife somethimes. Looks great though.

How did you get the lines so straight?
Folding the cloth in two give you a straight line through sector row 6. From there you measure all distances and put pencil dots on them. Then take a straight wooden bar and draw the line. Then continue from there. Take your time.
Indeed I have not placed the center dots. I was not sure whether I wanted them. I know the importance of them, but keeping a ruler from center to center does not necceccarilly need dots.
Have fun making your own! It is well worth the time.
