is the new starter going to make old minis obsolete?

Miniatures with all new paint schemes and new abilities, such as Tanks with Commanders are included in this all new 60 piece set

this tells me it might.

I just quite and sold a 3000 D&D minis collection, because I couldn't stand the fact that there were 740 differant minis and you could only use 20 of them to be competative. there are 13 sets, and atleast the first 5 are completely useless.

I hope this isn't happening to this game also, which I consider to be the best of the WotC games.

Hi KAGE, I'm also from the D&D forum, I have the same nickname(Is that corect???).

Well, from set 1 and until now, the most competitive pieces have been the Sherman and the SSPG. But it is fairly more balances that D&D minis. I supose that it will be a repainted set with some fixed stats, new miniatures to replace some old bad made models, but, I think it won't make older sets obsolets, unless there is a rules change. But, I don't think they will do A&A minis 2.0....

Holy crap, KAGE! It's Herobane off the Wizards boards. I'd never have seen you selling your minis, but I have to say, that's one of the reasons I don't play DDM much anymore, because I have nearly 200 minis, but none of them are what people would call "competent", and they'd always get kicked by powergamers. This is also a better game in the sense that there aren't so many sets yet. When I jumped into DDM, there had already been six or seven sets out, so I didn't really get many of the original, classic pieces. With AAM, the first sets haven't gone out of print, so I can still collect all the pieces (or at least all the ones that I want).

Anyways, good to meet you again, and if you decide to take up AAM, I welcome you to the game.

My 700 or so DDM i still use in my D&D roleplay game and its the first sets that people like me look for because its got so of the basic creatures in it that all low level dungeon need

Wow... I didn't notice that until now... I kept saying "hey, horacus sounds familiar..." I feel kind of stupid now... oh well...

I find that the Carro Armato, while not a very über powerful piece, is very good for use in any of my axis armies. Decent speed, great AI, decent AT, and all for only 12 points! If you had the booster-pulling luck (or what I don't have- a FLGS that sells AAM singles!), than you could field up to eight of them, and then include a Blackshirt. Now that's an Italian army right there!

I've been into AAM for awhile now, and its deffinatly the best minis game.

Its just i've totally given up on DDM and am focusing more on AAM now.

the Large Black dragon completly wrecked that game for me.

Yes, well, what's your name in the DDM forums?

Just curiosity.

Let's just hope and pray that this isn't A&AM 2.0 - unless the make the pieces bigger and more skirmish-like.

I'd also like for a unit labelled "soldier" to be just that: one soldier. Right now, you've got me with one little dude representing a crew of up to twelve little dudes! That's a really sillly, minor thing I have to complain about with this game, but it's something that just scrapes at me...

I guess that's one reason why I prefer using tanks! Well, that and they're tanks...

Note to KAGE: the tank combat in this game is excellent. The scale on some of the pieces is kinda wonky (Carro Armato=Same height as the Nashorn=confused Kimblee_Clone), but the actually combat is awesome. Leaves possibility for surprise, too, like when my Carro took out my Lee with two shots from long range!

1 man = 1 man is exactly how I see them too. C'mon, it's a skirmish game.

Yeah, it's the name that bugs me. I mean "my bullet killed your cavalrymen" just doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

Generally skirmishes are two squads of 4-6 men fighting against roughly the same. This game is more like battalion size - or close to it.

I do the samething as dugger with my D&DM. The minis are always useful even if we don't play the game anymore.;)
