Noticed you are trading WaS figures. I am wondering if you are playing War at Sea in Edmonton, Alberta. I am into the game with one starter and about five boosters but yet to have a second game. My first game ended with a comment about the Genre (i.e. WWII Naval) not being interesting.

I will check back to see if you are interested.

Have large selection, played about 6 times so far. Think the game is fun, am looking at a few of the in-house rules to enven out ststem. Could play, where are you?

I'm here in Kelowna, so playing together is unlikely, but I am willing to trade. PM me a list of what you need as well as what you want to part with and I'll look over what I have and get back to you.

I live in South West Edmonton around 23rd Avenue and Terwilligar Freeway.

I have contacts at METROPOLIS Gaming and Collectible store and have often played PIRATES there in the past (4039 106St) near Southgate and just off the Whitemud. This is where I would propose game play.

I noticed from previous posts that you are either in Sherwood Park or just East of Sherwood Park. I also noticed that you are a Junior Member. What does the Junior Member assignment mean?

Thanks

Too bad you stick to where it is warm and dry. Edmonton has been very cold and wet (rain and snow) since September. Do you travel to any of the gaming conventions like Fallcon in Calgary in September?

Junior member is only been on this board for short time. Playing at southgate could happen, does this location offer space and time or is there a specific gamers area? I live south-east of Sherwood Park, RR224 and highway 14 area.
Are ther many playing near you and the lack of interest you mentioned earlier was that yours or opponents?

I don't imagine too many gamers for A&A miniatures in Lacombe. Edmonton is not that far away. Keep following this thread as we try to develop games for the Edmonton area.

By looking at Google Maps sounds like you are near Big Island Lake on an acreage.

Metropolis Games is a smaller store. They are two 4 by 8 foot tables. They could confortably host two separate games of WaS and a maximum of 8 players. Comortable would be four players and two games. Just talked to my friend about the store owners policy for open gaming. Considering he is selling the game he is quite open for drop in gaming and since I have known him for a while that would be even less of a problem. I know other gamers who might play on occasion but no dedicated A&A miniature game players.

Speaking of A&A I might be running the classic 2nd version at Fallcon in Calgary this September. So if you are into A&A in general there are other games I own and play.

The game who play tested with me is not interested. I am very interested in this game. I am anxioius to learn the advance rules with several games. At that point start adding some house rules to improve the game.

I have been thinking about Aircraft Carriers and the realism of a strike every 10 minutes. I think your Aircraft Carrier cost should come with a full load of planes (perhaps planes at a greatly reduced cost). Here is the catch flights of planes can only attack once in a game. Planes bought for land would cost a reduced amount as well. Exceptions might be planes that can loiter and Combat Air Patrol.
I think this would correct one of the most unrealistic part of this basically quick tactical game without serioiusly changing the game mechanics with complicated rule changes like hidden movement.

Feel free to email me your contact information using other tools in this community.

I never have, but my job may have me out that way later this year if all goes well. I often head down to Vancouver for gaming with my old group from time to time. If you ever decide to pull yourself out of the cold greyness that is Edmonton, let me know!!

Yeah, in Red Deer, all they play are "spikey bits" British minis... and a little LOTR. Trying my best to convert some to A&A however...

Gads! I'm not alone up here in the big grey sky wonder of Northern AB!

Hey Juno...I live up in the Londonderry area and was wondering if there was anyone else here who played! I don't have much to trade (other than an Ark Royal probably) as I like to collect sets if I can first. I don't play much of the regular AAM, but that is due to not having many units and no one else to game with! Playing with one's self can only go so far

Ciao

Juno44 and Randebar.

In the Londonderry area I do have one or two gaming friends who play historical games who might play on occasion. I think they are into World in Flames right now.

I am going to go ahed test the private message features of this tool to see if we can establish communication there. My first messages will be short.

Thanks

Just realized I remember someone who works there. Kevin is a friend via a different hobby. I was just there today and bought a couple things. I'll be back there Thursday night with a friend and spending his money(so to speak!)

Kevin is quite an artist if it the same gamer I am thinking of. He works many evenings at Metropolis so it might be possible to have the War at Sea games while he is on duty.

Again just keeping the thread alive. Between returning to teach from Spring Break and upcoming tax deadlines I have no time for gaming between now and the end of April.

I was at Metropolis tonight with a friend(spending our money!) and talked to Kevin about that. As long as there is no gaming going on, he mentioned that it should not be a problem. He just wants us to let him know ahead of time to ensure.
