Oh, tell me about it! Somebody needs to take those 2 point font files off their system. 6pt minimum! And that's only 6 point if the typeface isn't like half a dpi thin. I designed printed materials for over 10 yrs. so I consider these things. But you don't have to be a designer to know what's functional and user friendly and what isn't. But alas, the wheels are probably much too far in motion already. The D-Day materials are likely printed up by now... probably sitting next to a "spare" 55 gal. drum of orange Japanese tanks and those endless boxes of grey and red chips they have to "keep moving out of the way". Do ya think they really listen to us "fanatics"? ~ZP

That's funny- 55 Gal. drum of Japanese tanks and chips- (lol) I'm picturing more like: The gray chips and Japanese tanks are being used in shipping crates as 'peanuts' would normally be! :D

Judging by the pre-release photos, I think the UK pieces are actually made of white chocolate. Perhaps the idea is to really "consume your enemy"!

I understand they're developing lo-cal Russian infantry too, because you just can't stop with one. (See?!? This is why I probably shouldn't be hangin' around the GROG here.) tongue.gif :D

Oh, and yes I suppose it's technically "Burnt Umber" Japanese tanks. ~ZP

Really, Zero Pilot? I thought the Japanese color was "naval orange".

A&A 2nd Edition can also be heavily criticised for its poor legibility - down to ridiculously low font-size and poor contrast. This can easily spoil the enjoyment of the game for many players who don't have perfect vision. The really annoying thing is that looking at the materials there was absolutely no need to restrict the font-size or muddy contrast. Shame about the cheap card-stock too. I would rather pay a little more for better quality! Good games though!!

I'd much more readily complain about the font and contrast in the A&A revised setup cards than on the D-Day cards. How many people who have played the game more than 2 times actually bother to read the print any longer?

that would be us...we still are using the cards...even after 20 games...

the allied reinforcement cards have enough room to of had a larger font / icons...the german card imo should have been split in order not to scruntch your units...

fonts on the cards for us, are too small, guess we are older and dont see as well as the younger folks...

landscape format, and subtraction of clipart would be great for hopefully the next AA game...

To be clear, I didn't say _using_ the cards. I can certainly see using the cards for a long time. But do you still need to _read_ them? I would think it would only take a play or two for most people to be familiar enough with the rules that the details of each card need not be consulted.

I scanned my German reinforcement card and enlarged it slightly and it works great now. It was terribly too small originally. 67 German units on a card the same size as the 29 UK and 38 American unit cards.

I agree A&A revised is more of a pain to read. Granted after a couple of games one shouldn't need the set up cards anymore, but it does come up when you have newbie players.

The marshaling cards should have had the card numbers printed on each of the 4 corners as well, not just the center. We use the marshaling cards when we have too many units in a territory, thus normally covering up the card number in the middle. We added them to the 4 corners and they work great now.

I love revised and honestly production is so minor compared to how great the game is over the original IMO.

ah...the set up cards...

true, at some point they are not used as much as 1st, but compare the AAE setup cards vs the revised...

the AAE design is my personal pref. format...nice font, good neutral color, EASIER TO READ..perhaps slightly larger font would be nice...AAE design is simple...to me, like an egg...simple structure, effective design...

i would have also liked the revised NA's on a card stock instead of in the manual, even though i generally wont use them, to me, its still a reference chart that needed to be on a chart...not in the instruction manual...i thought orillian's idea of cards was a good compromise...props to him for his visioned idea...
