Who's going and when?

I'm going for a couple of days, but not sure which ones yet. I have to wait for the schedule to come out. It would be cool to get in some games with other guys from these boards going on down there. Put a face with the names so to speak and get some good games of AAM and WAS in.

If anyone has the schedule or knows where to get it (I can't find it on the site yet) please let me know ASAP.

What's "Origins"?

WOTC will not be attending (just like last year).

I don't think Origins has many years left in such an expensive venue.

July 5th-8th

Too bad to hear about WOTC not showing, I wonder why? I just went for 1 day last year and the place was packed! Oh well, either way I honestly don't care if they show or not, I want to get some gaming in with new people and see new things coming out. Not that I have anything against the people I game with currently :). Great groups of guys.

I've put in for time off for the 7th and 8th, which is Saturday and Sunday. I'm hoping C2K will be going along as well.

Lotus, you're definately on my "must buy a beer if I ever meet" person list!:D

That goes for you as well K man, do you think Shep1972 will be along?

I'd love to road trip it to GenCon Indy this year too, but that is not looking too good for me at present...:(

Hopefully he is, not sure yet though.

I figure I have a minimum of 2 days, one night, down there, but I have to plan around the events I want to attend. Most likely they will be weekend days but there is an outside chance it could be differant. Last year I missed out on some because of bad planning and Mongolian BBQ calling my name, and I don't want to repeat the same mistakes. Well maybe the Mongolian BBQ but that really is never a mistake.

I'm all for recieving/buying a round for the boys :) (Those of age that is...you underagers know who you are, NA beverages only for you guys :))

That's a good list to be on! And I will reciprocate, for sure.

BTW, Is GenCon the one in August then? I had planned to go to one in August...the one I thought we all talked about on a thread awhile back.

Oh well, if it's Origins, then my bud Ajax will probably go because Wizkids will be there and he's a big Heroclix fan.

Yeah, GenCon was the one all right. Not enough vacation time on my end to do everything I'd like to.:(

TA was even talking about going to Origins. If the planets line up just so, he was even talking about making a road trip to Indy for GenCon!
That one is looking pretty shakey for me at present, getting the time off from work being the biggest obstacle.

I think I'm actually back to work already when Gencon happens, that sucks! I was hoping to go with a buddy of mine, but I didn't want to do all 4 days...that gets EXPENSIVE! If I'm back to work though I'll have to do only Saturday with 2 nights stay...terrible. I hate long drives!

Note the lack of Origins.

Origins has been losing money for the last several years. Last year they decided to make up the difference in charging for exhibtor booth space. Upper Deck and WOTC both backed out. This year they also want a cut of the product sales. WK is only having demo's (no booth sales).

This is why I don't think Origins will be long for the current location.

ggggrrrrr that sucks, its so close to me compared to the other ones :). A Cleveland venue would be nice...yes I'm in full on lazy mode lately.

I'm still in though, there was talk of multiple rounds.:D

Battlestations is a Sci Fi Boardgame/ Miniatures / Rpg where everyone is part of a crew aboard a starship. The ref presents the mission. All characters are part of one of the professions:

Marine
Scientist
Engineer
Pilot

When you complete a mission your character gets XP and Prestige to spend on improving skills and gaining new special ability before the next session.

There are about 10 alien species and the crew gets to design their own starship with different modules.

The game is designed for combat both inside and outside the ship.

That was my idea with starting the thread...I don't care if WOTC is there or not per say we can put our own game together.

I get lucky in the badge department but I probably can only make it for 2 days and really need the schedule of events to come out already!

I've written a number of Axis and Allies scenarios (and working on more!). I'll be at Origins working at the Against the Odds booth (military history, boardgaming magazine). I'll slip away when I can to see where A&A minis are being played, and try to play some as well.

If you can, drop by the Against the Odds vendor area and look me up!

Cheers!

I'll be there for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Maybe Thursday too. I'll be busy with the Hackmaster tournament, Living Kalamar (including an interactive), naval gaming of all types, other wargaming, getting into one of Duke Siegfried's games, playing whatever looks interesting in the big game rooms. Once again I won't have enough time to do everything I want to do. :(

I saw my first game of Serenity at Coastcon this year. It was unusual, they were playing a "Whose Line is it Anyway?" version of Serenity. I do remember two of the crewmen were hiding in a cow suit among the herd in the hanger bay. :D

Coastcon was this past March in Biloxi, Mississippi. Yes, the city is still there, though there are large sections of the waterfront that are still in ruins.
