Can we use home-made, year-appropriate units? Are the scenarios going to have restrictions, ie "This is a Wehrmacht infantry division, no SS units."?

I can't wait to recreate the battles of September 1939.

Looking at the rules Poland and France are stuck being memories, at least until the allies liberate them, starting in '41 creates that problem. The only other problem I have is game mechanic based; Some of the units which would not be available until November-December of a year are listed with just the year giving those who care little about the history a slight advantage in unit availability.
This could be avoided by a simple notice on which units don't exist in that part of the year. For example; A unit that was released November '43 is noted as still being disallowed in the Spring-Summer '43 Turn.

I see how AAE/AAP "AAM" might be possible...
But how will AAE/AAP "WAS" battles go?? We dont have nearly enough sea units...

Hate to be a rainer-upon-parades with protocol issues, but shouldn't this board be in the minnies section?

Information is in both places. Perhaps, if the first run is successful, they'll turn the strategic element over to A & A board gamers (?)

I think alot of people seem to think that this campaign has somthing to do with the board games pacific/atlantic and as far as I can tell it does not. What's further confusing is that this thread is in the A&A board games section.

The WotC control the Axis and Allies boards and choose where, when and how to attack. They leave the batting to us, in the from of miniatures skirmishes. Some people are suggesting that the Axis and Allies board gamers makes the decisions instead

Where do you find all the rules? And when will this campaign game start? I'd like to get involved.

I can't wait to see how this whole thing works. Count me in.
I don't have any WAS mini's so I will only take part in the land battles.
I haven't completed all five AAM set's yet, so I may substitute some pieces so that I can field whatever army I like.
One problem I see is that I will probably play a lot of solo games. I don't have anyone to play with. Seriously. I've tried a couple of solo games but never finished because I knew what I was up too.
Anyways, this sounds like fun and I'm going to give it a shot.
This gives me a chance to play with my mini's more. I feel sorry for my wife. Sort of.
Combining all the games together is a really great idea. It was a secret wish of mine and many others too I suppose.
Exciting stuff WoTC keep it up.

It will be interesting because the board games start in 1941 or later and some of the mini's are 1939 and 1940 and obsolete by 1941. I'm guessing that even though the US will be moving that some of Europe will take place befor 1941.

Good Lord, I might just be hardcore enough to play in this.
But so many unanswered questions! Playing solo sounds kinda lame, and since they want us to send action reports, I doubt they have any kind of java app cooked up (although, given a few weeks to work, maybe one of us computing students will have something to contribute). I fear I may be the only person in my city who will be willing to play something like this. Maybe they at least have some kind of matching service ready?
If not, it looks like we'll be using digital cameras and email/IM ;)
Oh, and what ruleset will we be using, standard or Expert rules? Will proxying be allowed? Do we have to register as Axis or Allied, or do we just decide where we stand battle by battle? Are Heroes/unit limits in effect? Who gets to be Rommel?
I'm only asking because I've been wanting something like this for a long time :D

For WAS, will we have some additional rules added so that DD's have value? I've seen some really well thought out ones in the naval minis section.
