Ok- Now that is not fair! Mike, you have done it AGAIN! I am (once again) enticed in getting it! I have to say- you do a WONDERFUL job with those articles! It sure would be so sweet to play this weekend!
(We shall see!)
-Hopefully my 'game store' will have it this Friday! Please- Pretty please! tongue.gif
Would give our group a "break" from bickering over the rules with the 2nd edition (especially knowing I was right- but of course- :D lol)

Tactics cards are the first and only dissapointment so far. It seems to me that it started as a good idea (similar to National Advantages in A&A:R) but after few good cards, the imagination ran out and with a request to reach 16 different tactics things like V-2 (first has been launched in September 1944 when Paris was firmly in the hands of Allies), "Fireball from the above" (like entire fighter wing crashed into the armoured combat command), one time use of heavy howitzers (What did Allies did after that? Pushed them from the cliffs?), "Blockhouse Construction" and so on.
Fortunately, this set of cards is an optional one so one can safely discard it since it belongs more to the D&D world than D-day.

Tactics Card 16: Volunteers from the Home Front
The text of this Allied card is Roll one die for each victory city (Cherbourg, St. Lô, Caen) under Allies control. Return that many destroyed U.K. infantry to the United Kingdom reinforcement chart.
Wow! Will use French (blue) infantry pieces for these...

wow, tactics cards are the first thing that seems a little too intense for my first game. I usually like playing with all the options, but these tactics cards look like they might make it a lot more tense... so I think I might play my first game with only order cards. Well, in a 3 player game, do the allies need a mutual agreement to use tactics? That would probably take a while if they have different strategies.

I think I might play my first game with only order cards.I highly recommend that. You shouldn't have to make decisions about when to use special tactics when you're just getting used to the rules. (The Fortune cards are less like this, but I still recommend playing your first game without them so you have an idea of what a "normal" game is like.)
By the way, it's also possible to play with an agreed-upon subset of the tactics cards, as long as each side has the same number of cards. So if as a group you decide you don't want to use Long-Range Howitzers, you can also remove Long-Range 88s.
I would say that in a 3-player game, either Ally can stop the other from using a tactics card. That's not in the rules, of course. The game doesn't mandate etiquette.
